Upload an RW-Everything report using the original BIOS from HP. The problem is likely because the Vista SLIC 2.0 wasn't replaced (i.e. dynamic mod) and the Win7 SLIC was just added on.

Is it safe to overwrite the modified BIOS with the original?

This is the RW-Everything report for the ACPI information from the modified BIOS that I have applied.

I hope that this will help - it appears to show 2x SLIC tables

BIOS flased to original without issue, SLIC toolkit now reports only one SLIC table - at 2.0.

    As requested, RW-Everything report attached.

Once again, thanks for your help - it is appreciated.

Yey ... I managed to solve it myself ... reflashing the BIOS gave me a clue.

    Navigated to :

    C:\Program Files\SP36869\winphlash

and put the modified BIOS in there, changing it's filename to "30B2F39.WPH"

Re-ran the original BIOS flash program for HP ("sp36869.exe") telling it NOT to overwrite any existing files.

Allowed the BIOS flash to proceed as normal - therefore letting it pickup the modified BIOS that I had renamed.

Rebooted, ran SLIC tool - and it is now reporting only one SLIC table, which is at 2.1.

    W7 is now activated.

My assumption is that there are some command line switches in the HP install routine that tells the BIOS flash to do something different.

Maybe one of the experts can clarify?

Many thanks to imatrix and tqhoang for their help.

No particular reason, but i want to bring to your notice that i tried modifying the bios myself (A06 rev) using the phoenix slic mod tool 1.50, i encountered this error "unable to reintegrate BIOSCODxx" (xx=04 or 02 0r 07 depending on SLIC used).Did some reading and tweaked some settings; after 100+ times of various combinations (i mean the slic and certificates) i sucessfully manged to do the Mod using Dell SLIC 2.1 and 2.0 certi. After the first sucess i also tried modding using HP and ASUS (2.1Slic and 2.1 certi); Both of them worked, But to my horror i cant flash the Modded bios because the Flash utility wont let me saying that you have the same bios ver ( i already flashed unmodded A06 Bios months back). I was waiting for Latest bios Rev and A07 rev came up few days ago. I tried to Mod the Bios but same error comes and i dont have the patience to do that also i'm not sure what i'm doing is correct or wrong

    Hello Imatrix,

I have the same problem with a SAMSUNG NC10.

A different SLIC table has been used after an BIOS update. Now there are some left-overs in the ACPI tables.

Is there a possibility to clean the pubkey markers etc?

    Thanks
