@intelarmamd: I have done the same -exact- thing. I have a few different ideas and I try to write about all of them at once.

As a part-time paralegal, I have learned that it's very important to lay things out carefully. And my grammar, diction and punctuation has been criticized many times by my boss. :)

Please don't take offense to it.

Windows 8.x has about a 15-16% market share. Windows 7 holds a 60-61% market share. A plethora of people upgrading from Windows 8.x are those that have been yearning to ditch the terrible UI experience of Windows 8.x, and many of those people are informed about the privacy concerns and will not be performing the upgrade. On the other hand, many others are not informed and will upgrade to Windows 10. Other people will stick with Windows 8.x for some other reason, like they actually like the operating system or don't want to deal with upgrading. Windows 7 users are generally sticking with Windows 7 because (as we all know in this thread) it's the better OS when compared to Windows 10. Sure, some Windows 7 users will indeed upgrade to Windows 10, but my hypothesis is that not a very large percentage will. I test drove Windows 10 on a few machines and rolled them all back to Windows 7 as I am sure others have done, so this metric also comes into the picture.

The point I'm making is that the market share Windows 10 is most likely to take from, is the 15-16% Windows 8.x market share. And let us not forget, as I wrote, not all 15-16% of machines are going to be upgraded. I can't predict what percentage of the 15-16% Windows 8.x machines will actually be upgraded, but I'm not going to be surprised if it's below 50%. Also, that 15-16% number is most likely shrinking and not growing. The point here, is that it's not like that then gives Windows 10 more growth room in the future. It actually does the opposite. As far as brand new installs of Windows 10, what is that number currently at? About 200?

It's too early to make any predictions about the long-term success of Windows 10. The numbers that Microsoft has released can't be trusted, as they can obviously make up any phoney number. Do they really think we're that dumb? Not only that, but they can count a device upgrade as adding to the most recent count, but when someone downgrades (we all know it's really called an upgrade) to Windows 7, it's probably not counted. Microsoft is a company that cannot be trusted with your data or privacy, was the first to collude in the NSA PRISM surveillance program and then later lied about their involvement, and has been hauled into court for major antitrust violations. Today all the politicians are paid off, so the justice system isn't paying much attention to Microsoft. Since they're all in bed with each other, and obviously the NSA loves the spying and data slurping features of Windows 10, why would the higher echelons of the US government want to penalize Microsoft? That would be like cutting their own leg off. This is called fascism. The fact that Windows has a 14% and dropping device market share certainly doesn't put them in a good spot for this year and beyond. http://www.computerworld.com/articl...eal--admits-its-device-share-is-just-14-.html

Side Note: Microsoft could have allowed DirectX 12 to make its way onto Windows 7 but they are continuing their "embrace, extend and extinguish" business practices, and this time with one of their own products. It's their dream to now have Windows 7 die off: Windows 7 isn't making them any revenue from charging people to play solitaire. They can easily slip telemetry patches onto your Windows 7 machine, but would come up with some B.S. lie about how there's some technical reason why DX12 couldn't be installed on Windows 7.

Second Side Note: on 8/20/15 Microsoft updated their privacy policy found here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/windows-privacy-faq. The reason why they did this is because they are worried about all the negativity going around about their panopticon operating system. The more we pressure them, the more it will change. We, the computer users are in charge of what our computer does and what information can be shared, not Microsoft.

It would be nice if your thoughts about Windows 10 future being bleak actually come to pass.
    I do hope for that...
The computer world article linked is over a year old, so it makes me wonder if the figures are anywhere near those of today?

As for myself I simply can't trust MS any more after this Windows 10 garbage, period.
They have gone so far over the line into the abyss that it makes me sick to see the real contempt towards their consumers and PC users.
They could change their whole privacy policy and service agreement and it wouldn't matter one bit in regaining my trust, because it would all be BS politics at this point, and nothing more..

At this point they would have to completely scrap 10 before I would even consider using any new OS from them.
Linux here I come (along with my locked down Windows 7 system to run specific software), and the #'s moving to Linux will skyrocket, and with them some new supported software?!

And to any 'reputable' company out there (if any exist) who is willing to develop and offer a user friendly, secure and 'private' OS for PC's, I'll be one of the first lining up to 'PURCHASE' it.
I believe millions of other PC users would also...:tasty:

Micro$oft, you know where you can put your free OS...

    Concerning Vista hype......
I've searched for my own posts concerning my opinions about XP, Vista, W7, W8 and W10..when I came to MDL I used XP...
    It's fun reading them again..:)

I have to say only XP and w7 got a positive response from me, all the other bad response, (for Vista: A big fat resource hungry OS, slower than XP unusable on older hardware, especially the 64 bit version due to lack of drivers), never used it....rightly.....:D....but what has changed is:

It always has been technically related (performance, usage, compatibility, resources...), now it concerns a democratic right, the right of privacy.

    longhorn

as long as vista was in longhorn development stage it was running pretty fine,
we installed it at the company on an old amd pc with 256mb ram
and I was stunning - it ran better than xp, somehow MS messed it up in the end.
the development steps were visible with longhorn and miles away from xp interface.
I thought microsoft was in a very good shape at that time, joined about every new build with excitement,
and it's been nice to feel the atmosphere of departure.

I still know people that love vista's interface, you remember the slogan "The 'Wow' starts now."? *LOL*

useless to state no vista, no 7, but finally a bloated kernel and ntfs bug sucked :) too hard

I'm glad that this was exposed to the public. That's all I can say without allowing my emotions to run rampant.

^^Isn't that the truth. I am actually angry. It just keeps getting worse and worse. And to think this is only the start of Windows 10?

Might reinstall 8.1, kill those telemetry updates, and once DX12 games arrive, install 10 as an offline only dualboot for games only

Installed that in VMWare about an hour ago, did the same with MTK for activation - still don't trust it at all though, need someone to check what is getting sent to MS from LTBS before I consider using it as my main OS, already tweaked the sh1t out of 10 Pro with all the telemetry blockers, but nothing is working apart from peerblock

The KMS toolkit will not even be taken into consideration by the general public. It's considered a tool of piracy, and will not be respected. I respect the knowledge and research that went into it's creation,
but, IMHO, a pirating tool should -NOT- be offered as a solution to a problem of this caliber, or of this magnitude.

At this point, most of us realize that LTSB enterprise can be secured. The general public will -NOT- be able to use this solution, simply because in the mind of the average person, it's considered stealing.

    I'm sorry, but that's reality.

    @endbase: I'm happy for you.

Already did that. You need to disable 3 things for LTSB (apart from the customize setup options):
    1- Defender cloud
    2- Defender sample submit
    3- Telemetry

There's still a residual bing.com name query when you use the search box or start menu, but it doesn't transmit any data. It's just a query.
You don't need to disable app toast since there's no apps installed, but you could if you wanted to, I guess.

So it really is almost spyware free then?

Hmm, tempted to wipe and reinstall if that's how little needs to be done to secure it, I use SiB anyway

Is there an en-GB / International ISO kicking about anywhere?

Normaly I was along past the s**t of using anything for activating MS than Buy a serial But in this case it's using Pro legal with telemetry crap or this way maybe they get track of my system as ïligal I hope so that they then offer me an way to get genuine peace out !

Well, there's always the chance that some update will override the policy settings that disable those things, but it's unlikely since they don't have feature updates on LTSB.
