    Hi Yen

    Hi Yen,

Thank you so so much for your reply.

The laptop model is SONY VGN-SZ28GP, OLD BIOS IS R0083N0.WPH and it works before the updated. The new bios updated is R0096N0.WPH, which does not work and blue screen when starting up.

So, I created USB boot using win98boot file with HP USB Disk Storage Format tool. I extracted sony file and put in the usb drive which includes R0083N0.WPH, I and renamed it BIOS.WPH

When I booted up it displayed: Microsoft (R) Window 98, C:\>
Then I type dir and it listed all the file I put on the drive.

    I used command: Phlash16 R0083N0.WPH, Phlash16 BIOS.WPH,your command PH161700.EXE R0083NO.WPH /O /Force /X /C /S, PH161700.EXE BIOS.WPH /O /Force /X /C /S,PH1614 BIOS.WPH,--->>all yielded the same error of PHOENIX PHLASH16 ERROR, PLATFORM SIGNATURE NOT FOUND IN THE INTERFACE...

I spend one week fixing but all with the same error.

    PLEASE HELP! THANKS SO MUCH!

    Hi yen

    ALSO MORE,

When I boot up my computer, it displayed my bios and goes into window menu asking i want safe mode or normal mode start. No matter what I selected, it still run to blue screen flashing quickly something 00005A.... and restarted again.

I can also access my bios pressing F2, everything seems find except for a few missed menu name and select option.

    Thanks again.

Hmm.... I'm not sure if it's a bios issue. Have you loaded default BIOS setting values already? Load it please again, save settings and exit bios.
What OS? Vista? What's the error at bue screen???
I guess the only way to reflash the bios will be from XP, not from DOS....it's a strange....

What about a fresh install of XP? Does it work?

    Hi Yen

    -----------------------------------------
    Hi Yen,

I tried F10 which is a complete restored from Sony and it did that. but when I boot up with the same error. I tried both vista and xp with same error.

I bought new hard drive and installed in there and used recovery disk from sony and I still get the same error.

I checked the bios menus, most of the selected items are wrong, ie all submenu said enabled and no disable option. I think my bios is corrupted.

    Any ideas? Thanks again Yen!

I respectfully request a bios for the following:

    Notebook Model: Gateway FX P-7805u
    BIOS: Phoenix
    BIOS Version: 9C.17.00

I don't know if I need to upgrade the bios to a newer one first or not....supposedly there is an update but not sure exactly where to get it at....believe me I've looked all over the interwebz. Would be great if it is possible to flash the bios....I love Windows 7.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
