Hello to bios moder's, i have a question i have a notebook dell inspiron 1501, it's have a phonex bios with inbuild slic 2.0 i want to replase it to 2.1 slic. i open bios in PBE whith some warning's, go to temp dir and found cert file MOD_4A00.ROM and windows marker file HOLE2.ROM (it's unpaket in orginal bios file) i think all i need it's to replace it with windows marker file and cert file from dell 2.1 slic version.. this is correct ? thank's for help
You mean pubkey and marker file.... Yes, just replace it by searching BOTH at biosfile itself using hexeditor. DON'T USE PBE, it's not needed to rebuild the bios and probably screw something....use hexeditor. Usually you have to replace the MARKER data only since the pubkey data still the same, have a look and check yourself.....should be easy...
Hi Yen! I have a question (just curious). When I was flashing my BIOS you advised me to do it from DOS using PHLASH16.exe with the following parameters because I had to change the bootblock: PH161700.EXE BIOS.WPH /BBL /X /S - everything went fine and my BIOS flashed successfully. Later I read you telling someone to flash BIOS like this: PH161700.EXE BIOS.WPH /O /Force /X /C /S You have mentioned that messing with bootblock was very dangerous so I'm wondering if the second way would also work for me since it looks safer without "/BBL" in that command.
