Hey Everyone I know the Lenovo key that was leaked is supposedly going to be blacklisted by MS at some stage or other. However , as microsoft stated that legit customers who bought computers using this key wouldnt have a problem activating , does that mean we are safe if we have used lenovo SLIC 2.1 with Lenovo cert and lenovo key. Or is there some other way they can find out its not a lenovo system? Regards 1234s282
This key will supposedly not be used in sold Clients. They changed it last minute, according to MS. So lenovo will get a new key.
Read Microsoft announcement again: This key will not be used on a single OEm machine! Noone will be able to purchase a system with this key since none will ever be legally produced. And that's the only reason why Microsoft is even able to blacklist it (but has not done so yet).
They might not even blacklist it, rather just abandon it if no legit customer will ever have the chance to see it.
they will blacklist it for sure. With the amount of PR it has gotten MS needs to make it look like they "won", so they will make as much fuss as possible about this and the blacklisting when it really does get blacklisted. Then again maybe it won't but if it does not then MS looks like they do not care about piracy, which to tell the truth they don't care as much about people downloading the OS as they do about people illegally reselling the OS. At least that is the way it used to be then they came out with WGA.
My 2 cents again: -M$ don't blacklist it, they can mark it as non genuine! They can blacklist it at SP1 NOT before!!! -everyone who's using that key is considered to be a pirate -M$ has to state that, the news: Master OEM key was stolen and allows to activate! This news are totally cr*p! It IS no Master Key (it's an ordinary SLP key) and it allows not to activate at all (you still need a SLIC)! But the public thinks so.... M$ must state to blacklist them, what else they can do???
Or they can totally ignore it since it is a SLP normal people who read the news will think they can activate it then try and fail and think Microsoft Blocked the Key...well this is what I hope...it is a hassle to change key.
its not really any hassle to change , as long as another key is leaked matching the SLIC table and cert you have , just run the cmd prompt slmgr.vbs -ipk then the key! Certs are easy too , its only if you need a new SLIC that the risks start coming in!
