thanks for help. are there any reason why my bios would only accept atheros wlan card? i got a spare atheros wlan card here i tested and it works just fine. but when i tried a wlan card from another vendor like Intel Wifi 512AN or broadcom one. it can't detect. unless i did it via hot swap (booting with original wifi card. sleep/ replace the original card with another card) and it gets detected.
I came accross this bs for the first time in my life! The laptop in question is an hp dv7 6c06ev and it had an intel centrino wireless-n 1030, for which intel never made any drivers for w10. Thus, the owner and I decided to replace it with an intel centrino advanced-n 6230, only to find out that the bios does not support it and get the well known 702 error at boot. Please note that I found that this chipset is in hp's allowed list! What can I do now? Or how can I know what cards are actually supported?
