Thanks a lot, I have used a faulty Lenovo SLIC, so I must say sorry for your trouble. It cannot activate!

Have now corrected that SLIC for further use.
    Enjoy it!

    Sony VGN-NR21S

    Good day,

Please try to mod the BIOS for my Laptop:

    Model number VGN-NR21S/S

    BIOS number R1150J9

    RW Everything report attached,

    Home made BIOS file attached.

I was unable to find the correct BIOS anywhere, and so used the backup option of WinPHlash (under Virtual WinXP) to create one, using another BIOS (not Sony).

I don't think that this will be suitable, though, as the platform information will be incorrect.

However, looking at the sequence that Sony use for their BIOSes, would another BIOS in the R****J9 sequence provide the correct platform information?

Or would I be able to another R****J9 BIOS for my laptop?

    Thanking you in anticipation.

    DeadPda

It's reported that Sony VAIO bioses from other models are working, even to flash it. But to figure it you would have to try flashing other bioses. This could be risky. I cannot advise which one, because I don't know....looking at your acpi.rw it would be possible to mod.
You may try save your current bios using similar bios.WPH and after that try to reflash it. If you get this to work you may flash a mod.....

I was afraid of that. I came across a pdf that shows how to insert a slic table. I know the cautions of doing this and want to get as much information as I can before I go and do this. Do you have any advice for me ??

Right, that makes sense, thank you.

I will back up my existing BIOS using another "J9" series Sony BIOS.

I will then try to flash the backed up BIOS back into the EEPROM.

If that works I'll post up the Backup for you to do whatever wizardry you do!

Many thanks, and for your other efforts, too.
