Guess how many people I managed to dissuade from buying a Sony Vaio laptop just by telling them to make sure there's a BIOS can be downloaded? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. This should be put in one of the stickies: - Do NOT buy a notebook, desktop computer or mainboard until you verified you can download a BIOS update file.
Okay but i didn't bought it , it was a gifted one and yet the costliest one out there But , what to do now?? Is there any way that i can take a backup of my bios my self?? Please tell as i desperately need to run win 7... Plz reply.............
there is a thread about Universal Backup Bios, not sure if that will work. I recommend u can just use loader out there such as WoW7b, Hazar or Daz loader.
Can u please xplain me the difference between the original bios mod to include slic 2.1 and using wow 7 and other loaders on the other hand?? Also , what disadvantages will i face by using wow as against that by modding the bios?? please xplain in brief... will it affect the boot time of win 7? Regards, Shashank
Bios Mod vs. Loader - Bios Mod involved in modifying bios data, in case for Windows 7, it needs to include SLIC 2.1. A mistake in modding bios can easily break your motherboard. however, it's harder to detect by tool like Windows Genuine Advantage. With right OEM certificate and SLP Key, It has very high chance of permanent activation. - Loader is pretty much a bios emulation, all software base. I dont know whether it makes the system boot slower, I dont think it would, but unless you try itself. MDL recommends WoW7 in most cases, but I think Hazar and Daz does awesome job too. Also, you may have to update the Loader from time to time.
I've made a backup of my bios using the universal backup toolkit from the forum u suggested. How to check if this is same as the original one?
I think DavidXXW has some sort of guide on how to compare them. You better check with DavidXXW. then you can use tool like BeyondCompare to hex-compare the two files.
