How I check if slp 1.0 is present in my bios My Toshiba laptop came preinstalled with XP Home. I have since then moved on to Vista and activated it through a bios mod. My question is: 1. Does flashing my bios with a modded bios erase the slp 1.0 for XP? 2. How can I check if the slp 1.0 string is still present on my bios? It is phoenix bios.
1. No 2. Open your bios file with Phoenix bios editor, goto DMI strings. One entry must be TOSHIBA, since Toshiba has a valid address range at DMI area!
Thanks Yen for taking the time to respond to my noob questions. I opened the bios file with PBE and under DMI srtings, there were 3 entries of "Toshiba". So I presume when and if I decide to return to XP, I should not have a problem with OEM activation as long I use the Toshiba OEM XP CD to install XP right? Also, what do mean when you say "since Toshiba has a valid address range at DMI area". Yeah, I know, another noob question. Sorry, just trying to understand. Thank you again.
Thanks for responding urie. I can't make sense of the addresses. Do I dump those memory addresses to see if the text string is present or what do I do with these memory addresses? Thanks in advance
