Hmmm, IMO that error occurs when the Afudos code doesn't find the bios file. Wrong path? Or misspelled the filename? Yen
what do i have to change and to what using dmicfg ? and will this allow xp activation or do i still have to have bios mod ? i read this complete form and it seems to go all over the place thanks jessie
HI Yen, Pajero Can you explain howto unpack or open OEMBIOS.DAT OEMBIOS.CAT to find informations on the range to check, I know howto for my computer, with mgadiag, but for other OEM file? An other question, i use Winhex to find the adress memory to put the DELL string on my bios => and my XP is OEM yeahhh, but howto find this adress when i extract module 1B for an other bios (i can't use winhex !) ? @Yen : You are very good now for SLP1 & SLP2, why not create a good tuto with all the informations (PDF for ex.)?
Hi, I don’t write a tutorial because: The development process is dynamic. More and more results and facts are discovered. So a thread is the best way to discuss and tell about. ALL of your questions are answered already. AT THIS THREAD! It’s very time consuming to do that and has almost no effect. My contributions are often very detailed. IMO it’s not a good idea to provide a tutorial for all that stuff. If someone is interested in he is invited to inform here and to discuss. The easiest way to get SLP1.0. is: Use the OEM files of a OEM vendor that has low address range and write the DMI by yourself. (DmiScope) This is easy and there is NO risk to screw up the bios. If this method isn’t working, try for a mod. Yen
is it possible to get the moded bios for the free vmware server? i have a hp and dell oem windows xp and server2003...and would like to use them in my virtual machines. so...can anyone mod the vmware server bios for HP and Dell?
Yes, but I need your help. I need the vmware-vmx.exe which you are using. And I need a memory dump. Install Hwdirect on the virtual machine that is using the original bios. At memory dump, dump address f0000, size ffff. Copy and paste the whole dump into winhex (ASCI-hex), save and upload it together with the vmware-vmx.exe. This I'll need from you, because I don't use virtual machines and don't have the time to install it. From the exe I'll extract the bios, from the dump I'll get the right place for the strings. Yen
Thank you. I'm really pleased! A success again! (There is a hard AMI bios which caused a bricked board yesterday, so I was sad about) Yen
There's always a chance of hosing your motherboard with a modified BIOS file. You take that chance even when updating with the manufacturers OEM BIOS. Everyone should understand that from the start. Thanks again!
