I would gladly help, and have started modding personally on a few boards since the second slic method was introduced (improved method page). However, in the 5 boards I've now successfully modded, I have had problems with bricking more than a few times (mostly dealing with the dfi), and don't feel confident providing my work for others, in fear of too high a brick rate for other people. If people are able to understand the risk and have the knowledge and ability to hotflash, then I'd definitely be willing to lend a hand to pay back to the community. However, seeing the incredibly easy and brainless approaches available now, people will probably be able to mod their own more often now . The problem with this is that it restores the divide that causes more averagefolk to not learn as much about the background of things, and when things get difficult, they become worse off. But then again, for those who simply ask in this thread without attempting research themselves, I guess it's a moot point I'll definitely help contribute once I have the experience with a few more boards and get a better feel for things. Again, thanks a bunch!
@ziddey Oh, yes.... I did a few wrong approaches which bricked mobo as well. And I feel uncomfortable about. But to know that results brought me to the right direction. Thank you to all for reporting. Without you it wouldn't have been possible. And sorry to the ones I caused a bricked mobo. It's bios code. The most sensible of all. Game developers with bugs...ha no problem. New patch and game is running. No need to buy a extra chip and no trouble at all..... Yen
@nniwatta Now it looks fine. All softmods removed. You and narak2u got kinds of sony bioses which are the hardest one to modify. I'm in contact with Zhaoliang. Even he (the master) said to me that they are very hard. They got FIXED OEM table ID's You have to wait I'm working on it........maybe he (we) will find a approach EDIT: There is something I didn't understand: According to Sony website Vaio series C come with legal Vista. Please confirm: Your ORIGINAL bios doesn't activate?? Try again using sony cert. and original sony bios (from website) and key that ends -923CC Yen
Im curious, I tried to update commando bios for beta 1404 as a test and it seems now ezflash and via windows, it erases the slic info. meaning it wil not activate, so i flashed back to 1302 using ezflash and it activated again.. Emulation now? What has Asus changed in their new SLP 2.0 rules? Seems to me they now want to make it a bit harder in terms of emulating some things.. whats the deal?
No, the beta bios needs to be modified as well. Original bios contains no (active) SLIC. Revised SLP 2.0 rule: First attempt to make modifying harder IMO you should not use any beta bios. Except you got problems with the latest official one. Yen
yes but it used to be before this new rule, if you had an slic modded asus bios, just use ezflash to update to new one and vista still stayed activated. now, you update to a new one and vista loses activation. Before needed the pbnc /n in afudos to clean flash a non updated slic mod. now slic modded bios, when using ezflash and no switches, it loses the activation
