I might get the SGS soon then, i reckon it'll be right cheap once the SIII comes out, and probably will still deliver better audio quality. To be honest, SGS specs are just fine, i dont see the need for quad core processors on phones or even the iPad for gaming and the like - its a phone for God's sake, we dont so much unnessary features!
I am sorry, but I guess Samsung will never use Wolfson audio chips anymore at their phones. . I guess they are a bit more expensive and they got cheaper ones at the SGSII from Yamaha. Supercurio, the author of voodoo sound got all its quality out of the Wolfson chip.......... The audio chip is a major reason why I love my SGS......I had it the last 4 weeks with me with my Koss Porta Pro headphones (environment simulation: clear music / equalizer: classic) at my trip through S-E Asia........wonderful! BTW: Such things are only possible with an OS like Android! Where else a 'hobby' programmer could improve the performance of a chip to make it to the reference of best sound? It is only possible at open source projects! Such a thing never will happpen at restricted closed OSes such as IOS and windows mango......besides they use mediocre hardware. @Android haters: Feel free like to be in jail, lol, and stop to blame Android therefore, a concept you don't get! Some just feel uncomfortable when getting too much freedom, I see....lol.
First of all Yen,you can´t just use Samsung Galaxy S and LOVE because of the great sound ,you have to respect the whole package mate Second some people just need time and encouriging (i know really bad grammar mistake ) to see whats good and whats bad.In this case Android = freedom
Yes of course. The Galaxy S is a great phone and I posted a major reason is its sound chip. I have posted about 'Android haters'...because it's annoying! Everytime when somebody opens a thread about an Android phone (this time SGSIII) soon some start discussions about the OS.....OFF topic. Those who don't like Android just don't buy the phone, but don't spoil the threads Why not simply let us discuss about the phone? It soon will be available, I guess at May already. I won't buy it then.... but probably when it has become cheaper at the end of the year, though.
I have the S2 and MAJOR happy with it...i can just imagine owning a S3 I am/was a great fan of Nokia, but i always managed ( when upgrading with contract ) to get a "dutt" as my first phone...replaced it with a second issue, and everything was fine. THIS time however, i switched to Samsung S2 ( after reading the superb specs), upgraded to S2...and DIDNT receive a dutt...weird....first time in my life, lol I have to agree on Android = Freedom....If i take all the "freebies" you get ( free apps ), it beats the Symbian HANDS DOWN!...not to mention the speed
I have to admit when the Galaxy S came out it had been laggy and Android was not quite developed. But that has changed now with Gingerbread and even more will with ICS at the new phones. For all consumers who enjoy the freedom to customize their phones for their needs and want to style it personally Android phones are the best choice. The SIII will continue the success of Andoid and Samsung I am sure.
As I have used Samsung galaxy S2 and I was very happy with it because I have not occurred any problem with it. So I can say with surety that all the rumors are wrong with this phone.
4 hours to go until the announcement. 7 pm UTC You can watch it on Samsung mobile unpacked app.... the world finally will get the best smart phone ever made....
Would like to have one too But will wait till it get´s cheaper,i´m not ready to pay so much Samsung is the best smart phone out there,we even helped R29K change his darkened mind and now he uses a SGS too P.S. Yen my Admin friend, you can´t just change the name of MY thread, that´s not nice but i like you so it´s ok
I think I am going to switch to this phone in september. Unless the new Nexus is available by then also.
I am also want to know more about the features of Nexus mobile which is powered by Google and tied up with the great brand of mobile HTC. So what is the main purpose of buying this cell phone in the race of other smart and window cell phones.
Yesterday I had the chance to test the Samsung Galaxy SIII intensively of a friend and I have rooted it for him. I had the S, SII and SIII here and could compare them. It's definitively worth to upgrade. The SIII is IMO the best smartphone. Samsung did a great job. The SIII has the best design of those 3 and the white one looks great, even though I myself had never a white phone.. There is a overall improvement in battery life, CPU / GPU power, screen resolution and quality and more features such as s NFC (S beam), wifi-direct, slimmest smartphone ever, quadcore. It feels definitely faster when using and the screen is awesome. Even stock, out of box the FW is much improved and looks nice. So you don't have to customize it. Many features are already present at Samsung's stock firmware. The support at XDA forums is already great, much better than the support of the Galaxy Nexus S. The issue of the Galaxy Nexus is that it has no external SD slot just like the poor IPhone. The price is already fine, even though I personally would wait a few more months to get it a bit cheaper. The SIII is the next step to the world of high technology, where open source and freedom of choice has its place. Android will continue to to change the world's technology to the better and the people respond by buying it.
Thanks for sharing I have a friend with SGS III but haven´t had the opportunity to test it yet. Will do it surely soon He says the same as you YEN,looks really nice is fast and smooth. Probably going to wait a few more months and buy one for myself. But if you YEN my dear friend buy one earlier i´m going to buy him too P.S. White phones look kinda girlie IMHO,but the good thing is,the girls then think you have a very soft side, because you like white phones and they can´t resist you anymore. Wait a sec,i´m going to switch my SGS into white (change cover) and ask my GF if she likes me more now (hell of a idea i have there) ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Editing : Switched to white and asked my gf if she likes/loves me more now All i can say don´t try it people She only said after laughing 10minutes Your always going to be and stay a idiot, with white or black phone. But i like the way you are, that´s why we are together and smiled. Didn´t expect such an answer but what can i do?
SGS III will be my next phone in few months. It has most of the functions I want, like NFC. If the phone does not already has it, the USB hosting is only matter of time via XDA. Only question remaining is the voice recording: Crippled 1-way like in SGS I or full fledged true 2-way recording. I need that feature, as my memory is... kinda awful. Make an appointment via phone and i've usually forgotten most of the details when the conversation is over. Edit: I've been getting to know the new phone about a week now and apart of some funny features, this SGS III beats my old I9000 by light year. In a month or two it will have official JB and if it's good, I'll try to find some time to upgrade the old phone, too. Just for fun, if nothing else. After all, the old phone is spare now. Oh, yes... voice recording works 2-way just fine. On the other hand, OTA is more like PITA...
I have same plans, I will also refer nexus and if I find it more cool then samsung galaxy s3m, I will go for it otherwise samsung galaxy s3 is the plan b. I have heard many amazing rumors about nexus and if it is like I have heard in rumors then there is no plan B.
I have got the Galaxy S3 32 GB version for 4 weeks now (coming from the S). Besides of the already known tech features I want to add some remarkable things. The display is really great and the resolution is now sufficient (no dots visible at closer looking at it) 1280X720, it is now quite fair readable at direct sunlight which is a technical issue on AMOLED displays which have no separate backlight. The design is great and it's very slim, it still fits in the pants pocket (4.8 inch display). Battery life is amazing now!!! When being in a local network together with a DLNA capable device you can play through the Gallery, music player and Video player media contents directly on the device over wifi to, for instance, a big TV (all share play), this feature is great. With an additional wifi all share cast wifi dongle from Samsung (around 60 Euros) you can directly send the HDMI output of the S3 to any TV over WIFI.....this is just great..anything you do will be shown at your TV... this is great for gaming, surfing and media playing...the dongle can transmit full 1080p to the TV.... wireless...of course the media must deliver that resolution to HDMI out. AND..it has a Wolfson audio chip again (WM1811 DAC) Samsung has listened to our audiophile prayers, lol... (the S2 has a crappy one) The DAC of the S3 has double of the power of the chip of the Galaxy S. This means it drives ANY over-the-ear high end headphone with an 32 OHM impedance powerful. You can have high end sound through high end headphones The sound quality on small headphones is not obligatory better, but louder. To take benefit of the new great Wolfson chip you need: Of course a mod kernel (siyah is a good one) which supports features which unlock the full potential of the chip (voodoo sound is not yet compatible with the S3, but it doesn't matter, since the implemented kernel features can perform anything you need already and has even more features than voodoo has). The sound chip alone is again worth to buy this great S3, besides of the great video / picture quality of the cam and the display. Used with for instance the AKG K550 over-ear headphones you can have high end sound. I actually prefer on-ears since I want to use them outside and over the ear are simply too odd to wear outside. I am going to try the v-moda M-80 on-ears headphone soon which should be besides of the beyerdynamic dt-1350 the best on-ears headphone available...... That's all. It's the best Phone I ever had in my hands. The gap to Apple has increased a huge step again and no sane man would prefer the Iphone over the S3. The only argument is 'the plastic look', but there is no real argument against to use plastic. It has far more advantages to use plastics. And the argument plastic=cheap is not quite right. It is IPhone5=no plastic=expensive=no appropriate technical value for your money. If you want something that is built in a solid way AND is worth the money, take a gold bar with you..unfortunately you cannot make a call with it, but hey, there had been a IPhone which could not call either when released the first time... Samsung is IMHO the Phone leader ATM and when you buy the odd Galaxy editions....S, S3, S5...you are always on the safe side.... rules. Open source for a open and free world!!!
A quick update for all the audiophiles out there. I have chosen the v-moda crossfade M-80 headphones for the S3. I have tried a lot of different headphones with the S3 and as second source at my headphone amp @ home stereo. The AKG K550 is very good, but is an over-the-ear headphone and too odd for me to wear outside. At home I have the Beyerdynamic DT-880 (250 OHM over-the-ear). They are linear & neutral sounding, analytic. This means you get what it is there. Means poor audio quality, poor sound. Rich natural instruments-->original experience. If the music is dull and lifeless the headphones sound that way too, but if the music is energetic and powerful and exciting the headphones are as well. Best for jazz and classical music with natural instruments and rock music. The sound stage is the best I have ever heard. Strengths are the tight and dry sub-bass and highs are sweet with some bloom & sparkle. If you are too sensitive to clear highs, you'll encounter problems. No headphones for bass-heads. Techno/trance/dance/hip hop fans should consider other alternatives. For mobile devices choose the 32 OHM version, though. OK I wanted headphones which have the same sound profile, but should be a bit warmer and more suitable for electronic music. And I wanted on-ear phones. The Beyerdynamic DT-1350 is similar to the DT-880, but also on-ear headphones. The v-moda crossfade M-80 is warmer and more bass emphasized, but still not suitable for bass-heads. BTW: Bass-heads have mostly no feeling for accurate sound playback...lol.. Since I have the DT-880 already at home for more specialized use, I looked for an all-rounder. I prefer clear original detailed sound and a big sound stage (live atmosphere and good positioning of the instruments) So I bought the m-80 for the S3 and for traveling around. Very very great mid, great bass and good treble. It lacks a bit of sparkle, though. It is the better all-rounder IMHO compared to the DT-1350 which is better at the highs. Great resolution and details have got both. So I can recommend for mobiles (on ear): Koss Porta Pro (low price, but very, very good sound). Have it for more than 5 years now. All-rounder, best value for your money. V-moda crossfade m-80 (all-rounder with a warmer profile compared to Beyerdynamic DT-1350 and DT-880) Beyerdynamic DT-1350 (Jazz, Intsrumental, rock, classical music) absolutely great resolution and details. A bit thin and high due to its linearity, though. Over-the ear: Beyerdynamic dt-880: For best of clarity, details and sound stage, see above. AKG K550: Good all-rounder, but I have not bought it. I prefer the Beyerdynamic's. Oh.. if you like Beats by Dr. Dre headphones or Bose headphones then forget my recommendation. It's probably not made for you. You are a bass-head then. lol.
