No.The disk cleaning function only cleans the folders containing garbage files left after installing system updates, such as softwaredistribution folder and ~WINDOWS.BT folder.
The Windows 7 cleanmgr allows to do a Windows Update Cleanup, where it removes superseded updates. AFAIK, only completely superseded ones are removed, and it cannot delta-compress. Really bad is only Vista/Server 2008.
To me it sounds like he is not supporting the russian invasion/war in ukraine but that's not really to be discussed here.
I don't think DISM++ can clean update backup better than NTLite on Windows 7. There is servicing stack compatibility option on components page, when is unchecked Clean update backup is removed more deeply. But thats for different topic. I will try to compare them. I always do this cleanup process on syspreped images, so everything is in installed state instead install pending. Just simply disable that item in registry. I always set packages in registry as hidden after NTLite CleanUpdate backup NTLite Clean Update backup works very well with syspreped Vista / Server 2008 images. I requested to adapt this feature in 08-2021 so it should works in current NTLite version.
In the past i used harkaz his winsxs cleanup tool and the one included in win toolkit by legolash from wincert but i got errors afterwards and stopped using these options entirely, not worth the problems.
The dev is free to do that but i am not happy it is being discussed in this thread or for that matter in any of the tech part of the board.
I wonder if someone could help me to do a similar project for Vista. I have all the updates gathered and categorized. I have even made a script to install them automatically with restarts in between. Although in a dirty way. Like the script will work only if the updates are on drive Z:\ and so on.
My familiarity with dism is pretty much zero. I will have to invest some time into it. Also simplix pack is going beyond just scripts as far as I understand. As in simplix's pack don't have the updates running from .msu files but directly from the repacked packages.
