You mean for when running it online? I can't find any switch to disable that: Available switches: Code: Key / Reboot for automatic reboot, if required. Switch /S for a completely silent installation without windows and messages. Register matters. Key / Silent for passive installation - you can see the progress, but the installation is completely automatic. The /Temp= switch allows you to set a temporary working directory. It does not have to be empty, but it must exist. The /NoSpace key allows you to skip checking free space on the system partition, it is not recommended to use it. The /FixOn switch turns on protection against Meltdown and Specter, and /FixOff turns it off. Without keys for Win7, protection is disabled, and for Win2008R2 it is enabled. Message from @simplix:
There is no such switch for neither cleanup nor restart. Basically You don't want to update properly. Then just don't update.
No, when I download full version and update offline. When I cancel cleaning, I have black screen and I must to wait some time when it will be canceled and I can view desktop. This is waste of time for me. I would rather run cleanmgr manualy.
you don’t understand patience? simplix updatepack needs reboots. if you don’t want reboot just to run cleanmgr than too bad it’s really strange why it takes too long to close.
+ offline = add updates to image when not running the os. example: mounted .wim image online = run inside the os
You mean running the updatepack on a live os, that is online in this case. As shown, there is no switch / setting to avoid the cleanup.
Reboot is normal thing and I don't have a problem with it, only don't want autostart cleanmgr after reboot
UpdatePack7R2 22.11.10 Added KB5020000-x86-x64 with telemetry and processor check disabled (replaces KB5018454-x86-x64) Certificate update similar to KB931125 and KB2917500 November 2022
Hi all I've been out of the game for a few years and am looking to update my win7 laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate(x64). The last time I used simplix pack to update my laptop was back in 2017 in the UpdatePack7R2-17.4.20. The reason I stop updating was because I read about Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities on Intel based hardware and the performance hit those patches did as this laptop is all Intel based hardware and didn't want to bother updating it anymore. Reason being is I've been recently having issues trying to update my Microsoft Visual C++ to the latest release for Windows 7 and hoping several windows updates will fix. I guess the too long didn't read question would be, what did I miss and how does simplix pack handle the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability patch ?
Ahhh I see thanks, somehow missed that. I went ahead and updated and everything went fine(Was hoping it would fix my Microsoft Visual C++ problem but I guess I'll make a new thread for that later on.).
Why didn't you put the vc++ WA addon next to the updatepack, it would have installed it too. You can still do this now.
Had no clue that existed or even if that's related to my problem. Like I mentioned earlier I've been out of the loop for some years and pretty much forgot everything but like I said, I'll make a new thread to go into details to not derail this topic.
@Enthousiast even if he were to do it, he'd have multiple duplicate entries in add/remove programs panel for vc++ runtimes. Whereas using the repack would be much cleaner.
What's the difference between 'Windows Update Client for Windows 7 (KB3138612)' and '2019-03 Servicing Stack Update for Windows 7 (KB4490628)'? Does an SSU install a new Windows Update Client?
SSU = the stack that install other updates WUC = the search engine for Windows Update, which use SSU in return
