Get the fix from here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-10-update-control.72203/page-84#post-1626456

wub.exe and wub.ini must go into the bin subdirectory of the script location, overwriting the old wub.exe.

You can also get 2.7.3 RC from this post (optional):

    https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-10-update-control.72203/page-85#post-1626994

and replace the entire contents of sledgehammer.cmd with the new version.

After doing the changes, run Sledgehammer at least one time, to put the new blockers into effect.

Yes, easy as pie. Warning, Windows Update will start butt-stuffing your OS with updates, right away, unless you disable the network adaptor, temporarily. Some leftover remnants will have to be deleted manually.

You can simply overwrite. Note that it will leave a leftover version text file and Start menu entry, these can be deleted manually.

    1:40 a.m. PST

1809 Pro, I just caught Update Orchestrator Service running (green icon in the tray for the win!)...in a Disabled state!!

I immediately opened services, and while I have nowhere to post the screenshot, it shows the UOS is "Running" and status is "Disabled". Needless to say I immediately stopped it.

Does this happen when the Defender is grabbing an update, or is it WU that handles that? Am I freaking out for no reason? How TF is a disabled service in a running state?? I see Defender ran at 1:03 a.m. PST, about 40 mins before I caught the issue, and reported it found nothing.

Nothing, and I mean ZERO has changed (no idea wtf this did or started to do though), this machine just quietly tosses light SMTP traffic all day.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, I am all kindza freaked out right now. Also, f$&# Windows as a Service, just sayin'.

The OS system and kernel can start services in a Disabled state.

It is also possible to start a service and then disable it - it will stay running until it's stopped.

Try to run this in a shell with Admin rights:

    Code:
    reg delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer /v SettingsPageVisibility /f
    and try again.

I'm not seeing any of the above with 1909. Just lucky?

Sorry I should mention I am on 2004. Not my main rig. This PC is used for some maintenance tasks. Other PCs with Win Pro 2004 not experiencing any sneaky updates (yet!)...
