Working with some bios requires special utilities.
Example is the thread about Lenovo 3000 N200
I would offer to collect here such utilities.

    LENOVO
The first one is SLP2.0 Marker File Update Utility 0.09 by Compal Electronics,Inc
    Marker.exe
/SETMARK=FileName Combine Marker file into BIOS.
    /CHKMARK=FileName Check Marker in BIOS.
    /CLRMARK Clear Marker in BIOS.
NOTE: Utility will update only marker, not full slic. It can be useful also in case notebook purchased without Windows Vista/7 pre-installed.
More information in thread LENOVO (IBM) Bioses, especially Thinkpad
Check attached archive for more marker tools for different Lenovo Notebooks

    MA-0A2.7z
1.run Reset.bat clear bios active msg
2.run markerfile.bat write to bios active msg
    3.run mfgdone.bat complete

Ideapad Y730 : FeatheredFrog has figured that if you have problems to clear a already present marker you have probably to use another marker tool than to write the new one. Even though you should get an error when clearing the marker, it can be cleared anyway. So you have to try and to check.
I have added the right combination.

For an updated list of Lenovo marker tools; see here. (Credit goes to bandolier.wz)

    Dell

If you purchased DELL without windows.
Dell provides a tool which allows to change service tag:
    http://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/R109071.exe

    Now I’m quoting pix:
    the command:

    asset PASS:12/31

    or on some machines

    asset PASS:12/34

sets the asset tag as PASS:12/31. After a reboot, this makes the machine enter manufacturer reset mode, resetting all of the BIOS settings and all of the flags that restrict licensing functionality (and probably some others too!). After the reboot the bios scarily reports that all of your drives are missing, then you are prompted to press Alt - F to perform the reset.

    If above failed try svctag.exe http://ftp1.us.dell.com/utility/svctag.exe http://ftp.us.dell.com/utility/asset.com
    1.boot to dos
    2.run svctag
3.type y to confirm change service tag
4.type new service tag (just use your original one)
5.type again to confirm new service tag
    6.run asset PASS:12/31 or 12/34
    7.reboot to check

In some cases this utilities will not help. So try this DellBiosReset / mirror or DellSTCD.iso
    and for N-series DellBIOSReset n series.7z
More information in this thread How do OEMs like Dell license their machines—all about asset tags

    New tool: http://forums.mydigitallife.net/attachment.php?attachmentid=2692&d=1251876595

Asset.com and asset.exe will no longer work with UEFI BIOS. They will be replaced with SmMfgCfg32/64.exe and PlatTags.exe / PlatformTags32/64.exe.
here this tools - short description
it's still unknown, how to enable slic

    Dell Tools Mirror (by 555LE)
For newer Dell server models, see here.

    HP

Latest version is 2.0F. Older versions can be found here:

Use Rufus to make a dos bootable pen drive, put the contents in the root of the pen drive, boot from it, at the dos prompt type 'nbdmifit' (without quotes) to start.

    Slightly old guide with pictures.

If there is no Advance menu, then type ADV while pressing Shift and F1 simultaneously (Shift + Fn + F1 if F1 button has '?' on it). (credit goes to LatinMcG)

There is an alternate way by changing PCID (original PCID is under battery); follow this:
You may take a look here too for some utilities uploaded by bandolier.wz.

    Intel

Intel DMI utilities - INTEL-DMI.7z But they will not do much, the only you can do with them is to activate OEM XP. you can use also Intel Integrator Assistant for adding SLP string in Intel mobos. Check here -> https://forums.mydigitallife.net/th...-330-Processor?p=287669&viewfull=1#post287669

INTEL OEM Activation 2.0 Utility - OA2INTEL.zip - the respective certificate in the archive. This one you can try for Intel Server boards (Please report if success).
This one is used for SLIC inserting into the bios of the working computer (there is no need to mod the bios). use dos.bat or win.bat for easy usage.
oa2Intel_asus.rar - same with asus pubkey and marker. this one is not working on some top and server boards due to pksign.bin is not valid.

Already confirmed as working on all EFI bios boards.

If you get error that date is expired, change date 1-2 years back. After running utility change date back

for 7x series MB use new utility OA2Intel007 which is attached here.

Verified working with Dell Precision T5500n series SLIC 2.1

The attached asset.com file enabled the SLIC 2.1 on a slic missing Dell T5500 n series (B10k ASL) with "asset PASS:12/31".

A very recent purchase (less than a month). I had to put this on a DOS bootable CD and then run it. Thanks for digging this info up for all of us :)

    SLP on HP DC7900

    HI,
I have an HP DC7900 SFF machine that came without SLP (Freedos). Tried to use the HPBI103.exe read SLP confirms SLP is disabled. However trying HPBI103 write SLP on produce an error 0x87

All commands from a bootable DOS usb stick.

Any help on why and how to resolve it would be very helpful

    Thanks

I tried all the tools, the only one that worked a bit was the 103, but only reading the data, any attempt to write fails with error (not only SLP, even asset tags etc). Any ideas?
