Google is gradually releasing dark theme to YouTube users. It is on the news few users on Android P receiving the dark mode with toggle to enable and disable it at the Settings.

Has anyone in this forum received it? Is it possible to backup the app as APK and use it to update older version to receive the dark theme? I am on unrooted Android though.

I haven't, but you can use Vanced black without root, haven't tested it with this method though

Damn these dark themes everywhere, they give you eye strain which gives you headaches.

It is good to use at night for me. The bright white mode disturbs my eyes a lot at night or early in the morning.

    Me, too.

But what's annoying most at YouTube player is that it stops playing when the screen locks..you'd need an modification for that....AFAIK Vanced can do that
I mostly use it to play music and listen to it with headphones....to have screen on drains battery for nothing...
