    Hello,

I have Sony VAIO Laptop VGN-FW170J. I need to update the BIOS to include SLIC 2.1 for Windowz 7.

    Sony VAIO Laptop
    On the back model: PCG-3B2L
    On the front model: VGN-FW170J
    BIOS Link: "s02.download.sony.com/US/pc/AIBSYS-00209762-1020.EXE"
Need moded BIOS for SLIC 2.1

I did search the forum for the BIOS Mods but I'm kind of confused on what to do? Any help would be appriciated.

    Thanks,

It's to show the final memory locations of the various ACPI tables. Mostly it's in case you need to replace/create one and the size might overwrite another.

The zip file I uploaded is the full BIOS + flash utility (same as the BIOS you linked, but extracted). All I did was use AndyP's PhoenixTool to "dynamically" replace the existing Sony SLIC v2.0 with the Sony SLIC v2.1. It should be safe, but you can always go back to the stock Sony using the "flash.bat".

So I just run the provided "flash.bat" from windoz with the laptop connected to external power adapter?
    Thanks,

If you haven't already upgraded to the official version of the BIOS you linked, then do that first and reboot.

Then run the "flash_slic.bat" file under Windows to upgrade your BIOS to the one with the SLIC v2.1. If you want to go back to the official version (with SLIC v2.0), then run the "flash.bat".
