Genetically engineered mosquitoes have arrived in U.S. 20 million 'modified mosquitoes' will be released in Florida to help prevent Dengue. But, Florida residents fear a 'mosquito apocalypse'

Thats a little bit crippled science ...... and about 60 years old :)

What they'rre trying to do / understand is what humanity has done for tens of thouisands of years = Grow up and learn to take their own responsibility ...... and learn to take their and other people lives seriously ..........

wich is now in missing in our modern world .

Initiation nrites . Rites and rituals that help a child grow up ......... and be a sensible functioning adult ............. wich leads to a sensible functioning society .

Its not about the drug . It isnt the drug that does anything . It puts a person in a position where ...... if done right ........... taking into acount set and setting ...... they have to face themselves ........ and take an honest look at themselves ....... and what they do and why they do it .

And noone has the right to force or encorage anyone to throw their lives away and not trip . People have a right to trip . A right to grow up . A right to be an adult . A right to be free .

were not creating cures any more, we are creating future problems ! pharmaceutical company's are putting wealth ahead of health (ever see a company work to put itself out of business) they make meds to make you feel better for a while mentally or physically to keep you on the hook . will they ever create a pill to make your immune system stronger ? they made a shot for measles and found in later life it causes shingles what will all the shots we are taking today create and the booster upon booster upon booster ? OK rant over

    I agree.

'This' is a new attempt for western science to deal with what they actually called hallucinogens....and then prohibited by law...
There is no 'drug' per se. Their past inability to deal with those substances led to complete 'unnatural' relationship.

Star Trek tech once again paves the way forward, it seems... :D

But seriously: shall we really become much more rational in our relationship with Mother Earth by 2050, coupled with renewable energy sources drive, banning of ICE and so on and on?!? As in, shall we really let our forests grow back, once again, stop the desertification of Earth, impoverishment of soil will become a thing of the past, the acidification of oceans shall stop and they will become properly populated once again, no more species will become extinct thanx to overfishing, poaching, pollution and alike?!? And in the process shall we really get the climate back to what it would be like without our nasty gasses, pollution and overconsumption?!?

    Well, one can but hope...

P.S. If we automatise and roboticise, utilise AI and whatnot to do most of the work for us... damn... I can't even allow myself to think about it... where would we end up...?!?:eek_yello: Communism?:bashtroll::wha: Wow! We better stop this now, then...:biggrin5::clapping::haha::schmorch::rasta::mocking::bye3::mml::moon::tankyou:

NASA’s idea for making food from thin air just became a reality — it could feed billions
Here's why you might eat greenhouse gases in the future.
    Jordane Mathieu on Unsplash
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
    • The company's protein powder, "Solein," is similar in form and taste to wheat flour.
    • Based on a concept developed by NASA, the product has wide potential as a carbon-neutral source of protein.
    • The man-made "meat" industry just got even more interesting.
    Robby Berman

It’s not like you can make food out of thin air. Well…it turns out you can. A company from Finland, Solar Foods, is planning to bring to market a new protein powder, Solein, made out of CO₂, water and electricity. It’s a high-protein, flour-like ingredient that contains 50 percent protein content, 5–10 percent fat, and 20–25 percent carbs. It reportedly looks and tastes like wheat flour, and could become an ingredient in a wide variety of food products after its initial launch in 2021.

It’s likely to first appear on grocery shelves in protein shakes and yogurt. It could be an exciting development: Solein’s manufacturing process is carbon neutral and the potential for scalability seems unlimited — we’ve got too much CO₂, if anything. Why not get rid of some greenhouse gas with a side of fries?

    SERIOUSLY SUSTAINABLE
Solar Foods makes Solein by extracting CO₂ from air using carbon-capture technology, and then combines it with water, nutrients and vitamins, using 100 percent renewable solar energy from partner Fortum to promote a natural fermentation process similar to the one that produces yeast and lactic acid bacteria.

When the company claims its single-celled protein is “free from agricultural limitations,” they’re not kidding. Being produced indoors means Solar Foods is not dependent on arable land, water (i.e., rain), or favorable weather.

The company is already working with the European Space Agency to develop foods for off-planet production and consumption. (The idea for Solein actually began at NASA.) They also see potential in bringing protein production to areas whose climate or ground conditions make conventional agriculture impossible.

And let’s not forget all those beef-free burgers based on pea and soy proteins currently gaining popularity. The environmental challenge of scaling up the supply of those plants to meet their high demand may provide an opening for the completely renewable Solein — the company could provide companies that produce animal-free “meats,” such as Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, a way to further reduce their environmental impact.

    THE LARGER PROMISE
The impact of the beef — and for that matter, poultry, pork, and fish — industries on our planet is widely recognized as one of the main drivers behind climate change, pollution, habitat loss, and antibiotic-resistant illness. From the cutting down of rainforests for cattle-grazing land, to runoff from factory farming of livestock and plants, to the disruption of the marine food chain, to the overuse of antibiotics in food animals, it’s been disastrous.

The advent of a promising source of protein derived from two of the most renewable things we have, CO₂ and sunlight, gets us out of the planet-destruction business at the same time as it offers the promise of a stable, long-term solution to one of the world’s most fundamental nutritional needs.
