Here are some pictures from my last trip: Wat Rong Khun. The white temple. (Chiang Rai, Thailand) Here is the original image of the third picture available for download. You can download it and watch the details using a good image viewer. https://www.box.com/s/wh278tk6p6jwl1rzi6xp to be continued..enjoy.....
Thank you, I am glad. Good to hear from another experienced photographer... The color profile is close to Nikon 'STANDARD' profile, just with saturation +1..this time I tried DXO to convert my raws....but wanted them close to standard saturation +1...the jpegs out of cam have the same color look....I just used DXO to get more out of the raws... It are my very first shots made outside with my new gear......finally back to full frame again. My favorite lenses had been the 28mm 1:1.8G.....and the ultra wide zoom 16-35mm 1:4 G. Both excellent for landscape / culture / cities..... I had been very excited when I arrived at this beautiful temple...so many details, and me with my new D800 with no experience with it......my hands were shaking first....lol. I knew I have only one chance to get those shots, nobody knows if I will visit that temple again.....and the light had been harsh (13:40 local time, not the best time)..... The dynamic range of the Nikon D800 is fantastic, the more you leave the sun behind you, the bluer the sky (no polarizing filter used)..never saw such dynamic and vivid gradients of colors. (Even though the main object is white at those three shots and the effect is not that visible at those)...... Will post soon some more shots......atm I am very busy....
White temple continued... And here you can see the dynamic range....at good light the 28mm lens shows vivid and dynamic colors... Original image: https://www.box.com/s/cgr4y0slmg1os4ufehxg
The Black House. (Chaing Rai, Thailand) Completely different art. Uses more organic natural materials (wood, hides) than used at the White Temple. Influences of many different cultures. Reminds of a cult place. Original file: https://www.box.com/s/lohjoo8d9loxmdffdhe9 Original file. You can download it and zoom in to have a look at the details of the wood carvings. https://www.box.com/s/2lc6igkuk4iqhi2i0zpd
