Awesome photos (and an amazing aircraft). How were those photos taken? From the ground with an incredible telephoto lens? Or from a trailing plane?? The quality of those photos really is outstanding!
Thanks. Those pictures were taken with D850+200-500mm f/5.6 telephoto lens. Plenty of reach and if that wouldn't be enough, I can always crop a lot. After all, the camera has 45MP sensor and the dimension of the pictures are 8256x5504 - that's huge! They were flying low, doing low passes right in front of us and we had "front row seats" at the show, lol
Not an exciting place in the world but with aircraft pictures included i wanted to share a piece of news. Donald Cambells Bluebird K7 Hydroplane is finally rebuilt and back in the water for crew training. She will return to Lake Coniston later on. She "officially" acheived 276.33 mph on Lake Dumbleyung 31 December 1964. On 4 January 1967 during the 2nd run of the attempt she was doing over 320mph at the start of measured kilometre. The Bluebird Project homepage Here she is
To put Bluebirds (over)320mph into perspective, she went 67(+) miles an hour faster on water in 1967 than James May did in a Bugatti Veyron on land.
Did you shoot this? It's photoshopped, the moon originally comes from somewhere else or has been magnified, right? A blood moon is by far darker than the castle. With a clever exposure and exposure (HDR) bracketing possible....but the perspective moon to castle is not right. The moon would be far smaller....IMHO Anyway the composition isn't bad.

Yeah, LOL- It's fake. Fake means separate castle shot where there's a moon photoshopped into it. The exposure can never work together (moon/castle) and he's chosen an aperture of 5.6. Nobody would do that with a f/4-5.6. One always uses wide open at low light. (As mentioned in the article as well) And the shutter speed value 3 seconds leads definitely to a blurred moon. I had to learn that myself. The subjective ratio background object to moon can be altered, so you get the impression of a big moon, though. But to do so one has to be far away from that object (castle) and to use a sufficient tele to zoom. And if you are close you have to decide on which object you want to focus moon or castle....both cannot be sharp together...either..or...
A long awaited trip to the City (about 40 miles from home, LOL) it took me almost 2 years to finally make a decision to go there and spend the whole evening shooting The Fountain and "The Bean". When I have a look at such images I start to think...also to find out how could it be possible. I have to add.... my objections to the aperture 5.6 is probably not appropriate. It's reasoned (f/5.6) in the physics of the used tele. It has no constant aperture (4-5.6) and at the long end there is usually 5.6 the most open to choose. And there is no strict line what is pure photoshoping / manipulating and creative freedom / art. Anyway to photoshop a blood moon into a castle's night sky is nothing extraordinary. To get a sharp blood moon alone is a bit of a challenge, though.
Went out there to test my new lens 500mm f/5.6 that was just released, I'm one of the first customers who's got it...officially, at least, lol Hummingbirds in the park, near my home.
I was on a weekend cruise recently from Stockholm to Tallinn, sharing my pictures. The first 5 and the last 14 pictures are from Stockholm, rest are Tallinn. https://imgur.com/a/hGuIQyo
