It says checksums ok, the tool would detect if they weren't
Could you upload a copy of the modified module
It maybe that there are other checks that the tool is not aware of
Does the unmodified BIOS flash ok with the same flashtool??

    Hi Andy

Thanks for a great tool and I hope you'll excuse me if I run a problem I've been having past you?

I've been trying to create a SLIC2.1 BIOS mod for a Dell Latitude D505 laptop (original post here) but, despite having an RW report, the tool fails, with the error message "cannot replace mcfg location in rsdt as no rw report".

I just wondered whether or not I'm doing something wrong, and whether this is relatively simple to fix? I know people have modded Latitude D505 BIOSes successfully before, but any download links have long since expired ...

    Any assistance gratefully received :)

    Hi

    Thanks.
I didn't mean you had reported the wrong error message - the error message itself is wrong!
Hmmm... you have so few ACPI tables. Have you turned anything off in BIOS??

Had a look, I'm not sure how to make this work. There isn't any space in the actual ROM for another table and I don't think we can replace BOOT (and certainly cant FACP).

Thanks Andy. I switched everything I'd disabled back on in BIOS and it made no difference to the ACPI tables. I have a few other Latitude D505s so will check the ACPI tables on those and report back

Thanks, will be interesting. I can't think of any other ways of doing it tbh.

Thanks andyp a lot,I have moded bios successfully with the tool 216.But something is puzzled. I have moded the bios with tool 214 and Slic2.1 before and updated bios with it.It was not succeeded. Now,I used tool 216 with Slic 2.2.After updating bios, windows was activated but the Slic-toolkit showed the Slic is 2.1,not 2.2.It is a joke?

Does slic-toolkit definitely recognise 2.2 slics??
