Gateway? Anybody have any info on a Gateway FX530S with and Intel Mobo? Or intel D975X boards at all? Anyone figure out how to mod it? The Phoenix tool IDs the bios file as Insyde, but it does not have a .fd file extension. It has a .BIO extension. It appears to mod the file, but I can't seem to find a way to flash it. All attempts have failed and nothing is written. It has SLIC 2.0, I want to get to 2.1. Thanks.
Update DSDT table of BIOS andyp or yen, Would it be easy to update the ACPI DSDT table? I'm in the process of testing my DSDT mods to add PowerNow support for my Arima HDAMB board with dual Opteron 280's. Everything I've read points to the DSDT requiring hard-coded entries for my specific CPU. I already successfully used Phoenix BIOS Editor 2.2.13 (or was it 2.2.0.13) to add a SLIC v2.1. FWIW, I'm in the process of testing a modified DSDT table by using Intel's ASL Compiler/Decompiler (iasl.exe) and Microsoft's ASL Compiler for loading the modded table into the registry as an ACPI override.
For what type of BIOS? I can add the code from the other tools but it will only work for BIOSes where module size doesn't matter. Andy
a little off subject here, but what exactly is DSDT? i came across it once reading about someone installing OSX on a PC... does altering the DSDT allow someone to install OSX on a PC or something? thanks
The tool wil tell you if it cannot reintegrate the module. If it says success at the end then it is OK. Andy
Modify the strings manually. The tool doesn't for some reason.. Thanks for the feedback, I am glad it worked for you!!! @Andy..the strings are in a strange place. We have had to manually change these all along..
