    Thank you!

    Galaphile:
Your post eliminated a couple of variables I was unsure of. Then I thought of turning off UAC. Bingo, the .exe loaded into the tool. I am assuming that was the solution as this is the first time I got the .exe to load without an error message. Now I need to get the RW file. Thanks for your help.

    Sony viao vgn-fw21e

Hello guys, I have successfully updated my ASUS (AMI) BIOS and working well. But I have troubles with the SONY VIAO VGN-FW21E. I run Phoenix SLIC Mod v1.25 from andyp.
The original bios upgrade was in exe file. Which can be loaded int Andys tool, but cannot update SLIC table. So i run that exe file and from temp dir copied whole unpacked dir. Theres a windows flash utility .bat file and .ROM file with some other files.
So I opened th ROM file in Andys Phoenix TOOL. It loads, says, that SLIC 2.0 table is inside. I picked up "Manufacturer", SLIC file, RW file, and Certificate (verified and SLIC with Cert is matching) The tool shows that EFI/Insyde BIOS and also automaticly set method to "Dynamic" (this I think due to replacing SLIC table). Okay I hit Go and get new updated file. When I load this updated file to Phoenix SLIC Mod tool it shows that th SLIC table is 2.1.

And here is my question. I sent updated file to my friend and tell him to replace original ROM file with my new updated (we are talking about ROM file that is inside extracted directory from temp) adn there you have flash.bat command file. So he flashed with updated ROM file, BUT Open 7 Activator shows that the SLIC table is verion 2.0!! How could it be possible? Were we using wrong flashin method? Or where is the problem?

    Thanx for help guys :)

And excause my bad english, I am doing my best ;)

Yes, how do you think I got the "RW-Everything Report after modding"? It boots fine and other than the OEM Table ID changing, the RSDT doesn't appear to have been changed.

I would like to try to mod my Phoenix BIOS following your instruction above for my Sony laptop, but SONY doesn't provide link for BIOS download, does anyone know where to download that BIOS, or extract the BIOS from my laptop?

    VAIO VGN-FZ430e
    BIOS version: R2110J7
    BIOS Name: Phoenix Technology

    Thanks

DELL INSPIRON 6000 Laptop - Dell Dimension 8400 Desktop

I have exactly the same problem. 911Medic using a hex editor told me clearly that the SLIC2.1 was or is there but no matter how many times you flash the bloody thing will not inject the SLIC and I am totally lost.
Yes, used the RW report by the book. Andy's tools says success. Then verify cert and matches. Flashed the system 4 times, two from windows and two from DOS with USB and the switch /readfile bios.gz and it flashes and the bloody thing is the same and the same. Looks to me there is some protection to really delete and totally load the new one.
After a few times during the blue screen BIOS says that the BIOS is the same and you still can flash but God knows what is really taking...............

Did the machine originally come with Vista or Xp... If it was XP you need to modify the asset tag before the computer will see the SLIC change.. This is also common with HP machines,,, I had a laptop that I replaced the MOBO on, the installed OS was set to non vista so it would not see the slic table until I changed this flag.. Find the dell asset tool for your MOBO if it was sold without vista installed..
There are a few threads about the asset tags and some of the tools..

Machine came with XP PRO. Both of them. Dell Inspiron 6000 (laptop) and Dell Dimension 8400 (desktop). So you believe the asset tool holds the key??

Just to let you know, did a HP laptop and quite old with XP Home. Initially I forgot to re name the new bios and flashed from XP and did not work. Then I renamed and flashed again and bingo worked like a charm.

It is de Dell ones that play up
