Thanks for taking a look at this Andy i appreciate the quick response will your Tool be able to do Intel EFI /Insyde bios in the future ?
Sounds like the certificate you're using isn't the correct one for the slic. It's not the tool's fault.
Very interesting. Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. I'll check again after flashing to see what value the Pheonix BIOS returns. Given that the SSV2 method doesn't create a new module, it is surprizing that the Phoenix bios manages to recalculate the checksum.
The ssv2 method to Phoenix bioses (Phoenix tool) related means that it creates a new (acpi) module (there where is unused space). Regarding AMI bioses it means that the SLIC is directly written into the biosimage, yes. At AMI ssv2 it should have the right checksumbyte already.
Hello maestro Andy: First of all, thanks for the slic tool.... it is indeed very slick! I have inserted the slic info into the bios; The tool spat out an .hdr file for the original bios and one for the slic'd version. I was hunting for date info in the slic'd hdr.... did see the model No and Bios version but no bios date! Two questions: how to hunt for bios date in .hdr file? 2) can a modified (date and model no) hrd be used to flash or does it need to be re-packed? How to repack this new hdr file? all these are in relation to dell bioses.
why i can not download the link. in the first page promote: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /Tools/Phoenix_SLICTool/phoenixtool129.zip on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Is it possible to change the version string in the bios? Its the only thing stopping me from using the original windows flasher that came with the bios update. I get an error message saying that the bios is already upto date. I've tried using a cracked version of WinPlash but I don't think it supports my laptop. I think I have successfully modified my bios using the phoenix bios tool, its just getting it flashed now.
Your problem is the windows flash tool, you need to use the sony dos flash tool, I believe it was called AFUDOS also but it's not the one common with ASUS boards. I don't have time to dig around and find it all for you as i'm about to leave for work but there will be posts on this forum linking to it, there was also a tool to enable VT on a Sony bios which had the flash tool in it. Hope this helps.
