    Thanks, andyp!

With the help of your tool v1.29, I successfully insert slic 2.1 into dell gx280 a08 bios! Thank you very much!

You just use normal slic bin's these days to mod Dells, you don't use the old marker method.

Ok, that at least clears that up.

But the PhoenixTool v1.29 is still not working with the D820 BIOS'es (A09 or A10) anymore. From the attached log, it appears that it has trouble finding the RSDT table header.

    FWIW, the v1.29 appears to work fine with Latitude D830, Precision M6300, XPS M1330 & M1530 BIOS'es.

    Hi

Your ACPI Tbl ZIP is broken.
I have run D820 A10 thru the tool with no RW report and it works fine. Could you try that, and repost the RW report.

Ok, maybe skip the A10 for now. I think it'll probably be smarter/easier to compare a working D820 A09 mod (think it was from v1.24) with the non-working one (from v1.29). Attached is a copy of the AcpiTbls for both (note: I used M09 SLIC and no RW report).

From the log when I modify the D820 A09, it appears that nothing was modified (just re-inserted the original marker module). I didn't see anything in the log regarding patching any other modules for the new OEM info.

FWIW, if I compare log files between D820 A09 and D830 A15, what I don't see is the line "SLIC string found in <ROM> at <OFFSET>"...perhaps this is related?

    Hope this helps...Thanks!

P.S. Do you still have a copy of v1.23 or v1.24 lying around?

Firefox 3.6 and no third party download manager. Tried copy and paste URL link to both Firefix and IE8. The same result. It's taking too long to response.

Did you or anyone else manage to find a solution for the Dell Poweredge 1850/2850 BIOS?

I've tested this some more, manage to extract the HDR by setting the memory settings but then I also got the "Not Phoenix/Dell/Insyde/EFI BIOS" response from the Phoenix tool, using v 1.29.
I've then shortened the "path" by moving the Phoenix tool to C:\Phoenix, I renamed the BIOS to plain PE1850.exe and put it in the Phoenix directory, reset the memmory settings to point 640kb, EMS 16384, XMS 16384 and then I'm able to rextract the HDR and read the BIOS in Phoenix tool.

Now I just need an RW-file to proceed, my server are DBAN atm so I need to put an OS on it first.. But this might help others to proceed :)

Just to be clear, what exactly is wrong with the 1.29 mod - not flashing, flashing but not activating?

Edit: Don't worry. I can finally see the problem. There is a block at 20054 as well as the block at 40054 that the tool is not parsing. There was I reason for this.... I think it caused problems on some other BIOSes. Bear with me. The RSDT table is in the 20054 block and therefore not being changed!

Try 1.30 - see first post. Thanks for drawing to my attention.
