Michel, if the dynamic method success then it good to go, dynamic include ssv2 method with random mode, just make sure u've had complete slics 2.1 not slics 2.0 with pubkey n header marker 2.1, hope it help! Edit : I've test ur bios, after I mods with acer slics 2.1 with dynamic method it report complete slics 2.1, so I guess the mods is ok, but I cant make sure becuz I dont have lappy with the same models as u!
ar_seven_am....thanks but i already tested both methods with the tool.....but i need a confirmation from andy...if it is save to flash or not.
No one will be able to confirm whether it is save to flash or not with the modified BIOS. They can only said the mods image is ok, that's all. Flashing BIOS, even with the original one is always a risky process. Anyway, before flashing BIOS, make sure your computer can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk. P/S: My post also didn't get any reply.
kizwan...i am not that stupid....i know its risky to flash a bios.....i want to know from a ''expert'' here if it is possible to flash with dynamic method or not, this is a packard bell notbook (acer) and they suggested to do ssv2. My bios will not mod in ssv2 but the other 2 options shows succes.
Actually, the default mode for acer is dynamic, not SSV2. Well, michel, I'm not an expert, but based on my experienced in modding bios (which is sometimes work, sometimes not) phoenix tools with dynamic method work with rate 95% for acer bios, the rest failed for bios board based produced in 2010 which had lock capability (it will show u've had slics 2.1 but incomplete marker or reported bad slics with daz loader), andyp had fix this already so since ur board based r 2006, I dont know what to say again, it's up to u!
LOL. I'm surprised that I offended you. If I do I'm sorry. I just share my experience, that's all. I have experience modding a lot of Acer notebook BIOS, as well as other notebook brand.
So I assume that your longest time being offline was less than one week... Andyp is truly an expert, but he cannot assure that it'll work. It's your job to care about recovery, because if then you will be the one that will get a bricked one, nobody else. I don't know if you are interested in my opinion, but I can say dynamic methods are usually safer regarding brick, because that method replaces data. Kizwan and ar_seven_am probably have modded more bioses than andyp..... Just my 2 cents...
Ok flashed mine while i used dynamic method....but no slic 2.1 present. Slic dump toolkit shows that there is no XSDT, Pubkey and Marker....however when i check in everest it changed the oem id (to acer) Thanks for all the help.....guess my board is really to old to mod
Hmm, michel, do u flash the board with /all switch or not? RSDT table had changed, before that it recognized as PACBEL, right?
RSDT got changed yes....also i used all original flash tools from packard bell (the iso) and replaced the bios file with my slic version. (or should i use a newer flash tool from post 1 ???)
Yeah.. been busy.... new baby And Yen is quite correct, i just provide technical support...... the guys here do all the hard work actually modding... i am rubbish at knowing all the different ways to flash etc. And no-one can ever guarentee it will work! And my development laptop died....... stupid SSD (OCZ Vertex 2... bloody expensive) just died.... Andy
Congrats on the baby, my wife is about to have one any day now too. OCZ Vertex 2 drives seem to die a lot, as do a lot of the solid states, they seem to come back for warranty all the time. There are firmware flashes that sometimes revive them oddly enough on the OCZ Site.
I did it manually and same results as posted above....also i used Dynamic and Module methode and both doesnt add slic in my bios.....dont know why.
