Has anyone seen an update or replacement for HDX_GenericExt_RTK.inf?
It disappeared since 6.0.8825.1 when HDXRT.inf and HDXRTSST.inf hashes moved to HDXRTU.cat.

    Hi,

As I pointed out here following the article brought to us by @CHEF-KOCH, HDA drivers 6.0.8855.1 and previous are affected by a vulnerability, if you can fulfill the requirements to switch to the UAD drivers (UAD drivers are not affected by this vulnerability), I advise you to do it.

    Hi,

You don't need to manually uninstall anything, everything is done by the installer.

Here is the update process : Setup.exe > uninstall > restart request > auto launch of install at start > restart request > Realtek Audio Control to update (auto/manuel) from Microsoft Store at start then Realtek Audio Control to reconfigure because the settings have been reset when it has been updated.

I am using the Realtek Audio Control
at the moment I am using the driver version,

    UAD 6.08879.1

You gave me the link to your previous sets of drivers. So I would think I would be ok?

My mobo (Gigatebyte B350M ) got ALC1220 chipset and i tried RTK 6.0.8892.1 driver but installation failed. Reverted to HDA 6.0.8882.1 version. What is the wrong i did ? Are UAD versions are for only older hardware ?

    Yes, it's OK.

    Hi,

If you have tried to use one of the UAD drivers packages I offer, they are dedicated to ASUS motherboards and not to GIGABYTE motherboards.

    Hi,

Your motherboard is compatible with HDA - FF00 drivers or UAD - GIGABYTE RTK drivers.

Thanks, will try the link. Is UAD better than HDA generic ? Right now i got a problem with tray icon of realtek. It installs but then it disappears from tray after installation finishes in 2nd reboot. I am putting rtkngui64.exe mannually in startup through registry.
