oem vista problem? FYI, for those having problems with oem vistaloader mod clashing with bios mod. If you picked up your oem vista from the net, chances are it's patched with vistaloader 2.x. You can see it as it flashes (very quickly) a boot menu on your screen just before vista loads up. You have to remove vistaloader. The easiest way is to install vistaloader (again) on you oem vista. Search for the vistaloader directory. There you'll find an uninstall script. Run that, and it's gone forever. Faster than re-installing vista. Hope that helps.
I think I did everything correctly but still not work. I think my oem vistaloader mod clashing with bios mod. I don't know how to uninstall it. Can you show me how to locate this uninstall script? Many thanks,
Many thanks, this is awesome. It worked After using the tool voatktoolsv.2.2_stand_alone to remove all the cracks (softmod, timemod, etc.). THIS WORKED LIKE A CHARM. You guys are genius.
All kind of softmods interfere with a bios mod. You have to uninstall them all. Better is not to use them at all.
Hi everyone, Just wanted to chime in that I have a GA-P31-DS3L and experienced a similar problem as threadstarter (activation works until resume from S3 sleep). I used VL2.2 instead of SLIC in bios but it seems the problem is the same. I added the ISA from tommiy to the latest non-beta bios for the P31-DS3L (p31ds3l.f8) and lo and behold, it worked perfectly. Thank you very much, tommiy! I noticed that it beeps three times when cold- or rebooting (one long and two short I think). It didn't use to do this, anyone knows why? Also, a(nother) word of warning of Gigabyte's Windows bios flash tool (@BIOS). It flashed halfway and then errored out on my Vista X64 so I had to recover the bios. When flashing from usb-stick from the bios it worked though. Cheers!
No, everything including video works perfectly. So it's just a minor annoyance. It started when I flashed the same bios with the added ISA.
concerning ASUS mainboards S3 sleep problems: My experienec for instance with Striker Extreme: out of 5 bios revisions you probably get 1 that works like it should on your specific board+memory combo. Especially the S3 resume is horribly f**ked up a lot of times. Other problems include USB, LAN adapter getting screwed after resume, black screen after updating bios with Nvidia 8800 GTX installed, etc etc etc. Happened to me with a high percentage of every new bios releasesd (including betas) that there was major issues with S3,S4 and other things connected to resuming from power saving. And im talking about STOCK bioses no mods and no software activators. Even in XP you have severe f**kups with a lot of bios by ASUS. And its surely not related to being to stupid to flash^^. Maybe your problem isnt related to the code injected by the modder but the bios core code.
@nasa you say, you are using "IASUS.BIN" by ZhaoLiang!! But there is a different one "ISA-GA_SP1.BIN" by Tommiy that resolves activation problem after S3. Have you tried this one too?????
1. Tommei, How could you do ISA-GA_SP1.BIN ? I would like DELL brandname. 2. Anyone know how to boot into DOS? I using RAID1 + ASUS SATA DVD drive + no flash drive + no fopply drive + 965P-DS4. When set BIOS to native, it still couldn't boot hiren or any dos bootcd. Qflash can't see my PocketPC device.
Ditto. I have an EP35-DS4 which won't wake from S3 with most mods, a huge pile of Dell Vista DVDs, and no desire to join the huge number of "Asus Notebook" PCs out there (if we all use one SLIC, it's possible to ban us while only pissing off ONE OEM. With lots of SLICs, MS would have to upset ALL OEMs.). An S3 fixed Dell ISA would be really great.
You can change the SLIC inside the ISA-GA_SP1.BIN module with Hex Editor with any SLIC you like. Just make shure that the 8-bit checksum of the new SLIC and the overall module checksum equals to zero.
