DISM comes with a folder with a lot of files in WAIK and also in Windows 7. - Is there any cons to replace dism.exe (and eventually its folder) by the one from Windows 8.1 ? Should I make a backup and restore the Windows 7 version once my 8.1 image is done or can I safely use the Windows 8.1 version of DISM for anything ?
Good questions, but actually don't know the consequences for doing that. You see, I am crafting my WAIOs using a Windows 8.1 Pro machine, so I really don't know. Those tools do work fine for me in this environment.
Are there some files safe to delete on Windows 8.1 installation iso? I crafted my own AIO but is about 100 MB oversized to fit on a DVD5 (4.7GB). It's just a little bit.
You can safely delete these all files from the setup dvd except these files \boot \efi \sources\boot.wim \sources\EI.cfg (Optional) \sources\install.wim \sources\lang.ini (If you are using Multi-Languages) \sources\setup.exe \bootmgr \bootmgr.efi even if the setup files size is oversize to fit in a dvd then use the install.esd format instead of install.wim format. even then the setup files size is oversize then first use WimLib 1.5.2 for higher compression of install.wim and then export the install.wim to install.esd format for further compression.

Oldee, i've used it to only create an all in one iso of win 8.1u1 without installing any other update nor .net framwork. It worked well.
@Simone73, Thank you for reply. I don't need either like you but to check how to for U1. I already modified the GAUP1 script for W8.1 U1 and it will testing next week. Let see.
