No, that's the point. I cannot make a general statement. It depends on your situation. Some thoughts: -You have got a old bios activated by a loader. WAT checks the biosdate, it's far before the release date of W7-->WAT renders the loader useless (basically it marks the OS non genuine)---->Biosmod to change biosdate. If WAT finds something at the bios it can mark W7 non genuine, no matter if a loader was used or a biosmod (SLICed bios) -You have got a Notebook that is sold with and without preistalled W7. You have the one without W7. You have installed a loader--->WAT does probably nothing! Because the bios comes with and without SLIC both official. Two cases I could imagine to be happen I tend to biosmods, yes, because the data are read out of the bios...a loader could hardly patch them IMO...
I want to add. I'm NOT reporting about facts. I am thinking about WAT only........there can be no facts yet..WAT isn't on!!!
yes yen i understand now. am inclined to believe you but also i think they will come down to daily checks like antivires and blacklist certain ppl and all the flack M$ have got from wga with XP u can guarentee this will be alot more accurate system. they will not want a repeat of wga. i would also like to thank yen for your patenice with me iam diffcult to get through sometimes and thank you for your detailed replys they have been alot of help.
But it is true that if WAT goes for BIOS date which is best authenticated, it would be diffucult for old BIOS Mod or ldr to escape. Lets wait and see whats there in Microsoft's Boss mind.
A loader simply cannot write to physical memory from E0000h to FFFFFh. The only possible workaround it so disable write-protection using PCI0 : Dev0 : Func0 BUT the specific "Enable Writes to Xxxh" bit is different from chipset to chipset.... EDIT: btw.. what's about PCI option rom ldrs?
another question arises on the other forum, will the MSDN RETAIL Keys be also black listed? i heard people selling those with 10x activation, some people used 1 Retail key to 3 computers.. will WAT also block them? what do you think guys? sorry i asked this question..
So if I understand this right, my bios modet Dell E520 is too old and will probably have problems with WAT?.
yes will more then likely be blocked but the real answer really is no one really nos until WAT comes online only guesses
I beg to differ, the WAT servers are online and are collecting information. The WAT program runs only once in every 90 days and cannot be run in between this interval. It is scheduled to run automatically by the SPP service.
but MSDN keys are for test use right? so if a user installs it to 3 computers as long as its genuine will it still be blocked??? in that case i have to inform my friend hehehe..
the servers are not online its been discussed earl;ier on in the thread someone opened up the program and checked the servers reading 0 so your wrong
i might be wrong but i think they run out june of this year the test keys so tell your FRIEND to get a move on and get the build 7600 a non beta build
