Which is more dangerous? mobo and SLIC not matching or cert and key not matching? lol...can't wait for the 16th/17th.
I am amazed at how many people running altered versions of Win7 (and by that I mean altered to try and make legal) are now moaning because MS are trying to make people pay for it! Come on folks, the game works both ways.
cert and key not matching because this as already proved to be working MOBO and SLIC not matching are just guesses what will come with WAT
well my bios is patched via SSV2 method. with asus matching key and cert. installed WAT and so far "so far" everything is ok. p55 extreme. so iam starting to wonder if they are targeting motherboards that are older and know that in no way they will have SLIC 2.1 or if it just does not matter? i guess its too early to tell
well there no way on this earth my MOBO could have a SLIC 2.1 and mine has passed anyway you have MATCHIN key n cert the problem comes when u mix and match them or use the blacklisted lenvo key
I would say 'moan' isn't the right expression. I would say 'surprised in a uncomfortable manner'......M$ did not much about and now they will start....I prefer the second way whatever that means... There are a lot that want just to beat M$ activation, nothing more. There are legit users running a mod just not to have to activate against M$ server....it's not that simple to say that all don't want to pay for W7......
no we no people who have installed mismatched certs and the blacklisted lenvo key and they have come up counterfit no guesses there the only guesses are with the MOBO and SLIC
Hey, I have a paid version of Win7 pro. But "fake" activation is more fun ...Esp. with all of us waiting with bated breath
Yen, my bios had FSC SLP 1. So i added FSC SLIC 2.1 because it seemed somewhat incongruos to have different SLP and SLIC. But am wondering now...What do you think?
I have a retail key for Win7 and I choose not to use it for the same reason of not having to deal with the activation process. For us techies it is more fun to mess around with getting around activation. Things were kind of getting boring here lately and this new WAT update kind of brought on some new challanges. Kind of fills in the gap from Win7 to Win8. Just flashed my Asus P5Q Pro board from a Dell configuration to all Asus just to be safer.
Actually, no. I was quoting Mr. Sieverts specific claim that Microsoft would 'take action' by disabling SLIC Loaders and BIOS Mods with VistaSP1, which was simply not the case. The point was that it was not only not the case with VistaSP1, but that it has in fact not changed to this very day even though there were another Service Pack and the RTM of a 'new' OS in between. The fact that it happened to be Sievert in that interview is not important. It could have just as well been any other Microsoft employee speaking on behalf of the company... I am not ruling out the possibility that you know more than i do so it may well be that you are right. However, i myself tend to believe what i see and what we have seen over the last years just doesnt look like the actions of somebody who is dead-set on closing all doors. Quite on the contrary, and IMO there are good reasons for why they shouldnt do this too...
i think what yen was trying to say is from what i have read is that bloke got fired because he was not dong his job properly and this new person will but at the end of all this i dont see why M$ would put a 90 day check on if they was not serious about tackling it. i do believe though that M$ benifits from pirates that cannot be unerestamited
Where? You mean the 'second' way? You even can run a legit version of W7 for free. Just find somebody that pays you a license.....that's the best way! At the moment it doesn't matter. SLP and SLIC can be different. I don't think M$ will check for slp and SLIC. But they can check for the bios vendor and SLIC vendor....
