    Translation.. (attempt)

Yen, have you ever thought about that this check what are you looking for is located on the WAT server (online) only and will be never found on PC?

My answer: M$ would be clever to do so...

i just made an image backup of my system with acronis...

then if the WAT is available already at the microsoft website.. then i will test it..

if all else fails, i will recover and then close my windows update and wait until there is a good solution..

for now i installed technet keys to my mother, sister, and friend. :)

This is a very plausible method and probably the most likely. It will completely knock out non-genuine systems run by noobs and will create panic but it'll be easily circumventable. The solution will require a bit of modification of current loaders but I had no doubt it can be done.

Option 1 about consistency between BIOS ID, cert, and key is very realistic. In fact, I'd bank on this combination being part of the WAT check. Of course, Microsoft would be changing the idea behind the current licensing scheme which allows mismatches.

Option 2 is a bit far-fetched because it will nail legit GRUB boot loaders and I am not sure that is what Microsoft wants to deal with.

Option 3 is what happens already. Mainly Vista/7 rechecks the SLIC table at every boot. If none exists then Vista/7 loses OEM activation and revert to their non-genuine state. Changing the bootloader automatically is again far-fetched.

Your statements of doom may annoy me, but your English is alright considering.

It's easy for us English speaking people to criticise the effort of others when most of us can't string a few words together in another language let alone try to have a written conversation.

So in this regard, fair play to you. :)

    Hi, "writing " from Portugal.

I made a test here. Installed Win 7 Uiltimate in a VMWAre Machine, applied Chew-WGA and then installed the leaked WAT. Everithing is Ok. So, he goes my question: just the loaders can be affected by WAT ?

    Regards.

If the whole world picks up the WAT server, the servers will crash, thats it.
I've never seen MS servers crash whether its updates or genuine check.
