After installing the WAT on my x64 machine my Firewall reported some activities concerning "Windows Activation Technologies Service". Logged IPs @ 8:15PM 207.46.198.220:80 195.27.154.10:80 207.46.170.123:80 na.activation.sls.microsoft.com (65.55.52.62:443)
that is excellent detective work. I suggest you block "Watadminsvc.exe" with your firewall, or disable it for now.
been running my pc all day, no problems yet. I ran the validation checks from the validation page and from microsoft download site while trying to download hotfixes, all passed. I even started the wat service, it ran for a moment and then closed. I also blocked those ip's.
so the question is... is this WAT thing a threat to the people who are using loaders and bios MODS? because if this WAT goes official..well i got like 20 computers installed with Hazar's and DAZ loaders hehehehe
You have long said so much bullsh_t that it is impossible to filter through it. Do us all a favor and quit being such a douche nozzle. Hazar was right when he called FUD on this whole thread, should be locked since obviously there is nothing useful coming from this.
It seems WAT is targeting mismatched BIOS/SLICS, or mismatched keys/SLICS. The Daz loader is safe from this.
Looks to me like the moderator knew the guy had an invalid install but also know it was remotely possible that this was a problem stemming from an OEM issue. We know that acer and all the rest use boards from Asus and other manufacturers, some of these boards are identical with the exception of the bios and one or two OEM specific changes. Basicly the moderator punted the problem back to the probably non-existant oem. If the guy knows he is using a loader then he should never have posted there, if he bought the computer and the the builder screwed up when installing a cert and key then the poor guy will never get help from microsoft. My guess is that the MS moderator knows exactly what is going on with this validation but stops short of accusing the guy because he may have been duped by a shady system builder so he says to install the coa key (that doesn't exist) because it is an asus board. THen the guy goes on to say that it is a volume license key and he has done this many times before, what a tool. THe funny thing is that the key is clearly identified as an OEM key and he is like, nope, it's VL, I do this all the time.
