    Great News!

I look forward to a public release when you guys feel it's safe(as can be, anyway) and ready.

I have a ACER laptop I'd like to mod. I pretty sure a SLIC2.1 BIOS for it is already on this site, but no feedback was posted. Anyway, this tool would allow me to learn something, and mod my own bios. It's always fun to learn, even if messing with bios is always risky(to some degree).

This will be geared towards / able to do IBM/Lenovo bios's, yes?

    I have SLIC 2.0 with TP-7I marker (T60P 1.17 bios).

    Thanks for the work guys!

You need a dump or anything to assist testing?

It has a great variety of advanced settings.....to handle it will still need a bit of knowledge...all that different bioses need different settings. Since it can parse the rwe report it should be OK to handle it.......;)

Is it possible for the RC5 tool to 'read bios' without the 'templete WPH' file. because I have an HP desktop with phoenix bios that the HP site does not have a bios for. Its a custom OEM board, so is there any way to at least 'extract' my existing bios?

After I can extract it, I can append it with some 'other bytes' so that it can be open with Phoenix Bios editor, without the error "Invalid WPH file"

    thanks

you cannot backup the eeprom elements of the bios for flashing and so your backup bios will not work

The tool sure will handle it. You can extract the bios, but you won't get the platform data! You won't be able to flash it without the platform data!
    Didn't I tell that already? :)

    it's up to rc6 now

Better insyde support (multiple SLICs, RW reports etc.)
Module parsing to deal with different OEM/Table IDs.

I tested an Insyde bios today, worked well.

Uhmm..it was accidentally leaked before. DON'T use it! It may still have bugs.....it's now at RC6 which is more than 25 versions ahead!

So to andyp and yen and other invited testers..

did you find anything special about pheonix bios modding besides changing the SLIC to 2.1..

ie: 1) enable special locked out features
    2) support dual pci-e video cards
    3) wifi blacklist removal
    4) enabling VX flags
    5) set UDMA or PIO
    6) etc.

No, first priority is to create a save SLIC modding tool for all those bioses. There are a great variety of different bioses. Wifi whitlelist removal could be an option IMO at further releases..but for Lenovo only....

Tool is at RC7 now. I guess the time to release it will be soon.:)
A lot of work has been done already!

If it is so advanced you can safely release it with no problem.
