Alternatives to change OS accomplish nothing. There will always be upgrades or modifications to jump our efforts and get them their purpose. The struggle is in the moral battle against the intrusion to privacy and defend the right to live without being controlled by any spy agency. The movement for change that is out there in the streets, protesting and reporting the situation to all corners of the earth. We need an impulse, constructive and organized. How will we do it?
Well if you got every MDL member to dual boot with a insider account, and they went to feedback and posted that this issue is unacceptable, this would surely move Microsoft to take a second look. But you have a better chance of see God, than getting everyone in. So the other option is Media, and what Media does Microsoft use. There's Gabriel Aul twitter. But again getting as many people here, when most think privacy is a joke, would be complicated.
Actually it's easy. The do-it-yourself approach by living the idea of a change. By living it people can be invited to join. MDL can be a platform for those posting their experiences when migrating to Linux as an alternative dual booting OS. That is IMHO the most effective approach rather than going 'outside' protesting only. Doing it in a group brings the dynamic of a group/community and people can help each others. There are several members who want to give it a try. We just need to organize the input that will be created by doing the migration. I'll support this since I am one of those going for Linux (besides of the media server I am already running) for online desktop use. The only thing is the great variety of distros people can choose. It would be nice people would find one or two of them satisfying their needs... I guess the Linux section and the thread MJ has started is a good start.
The data that M$ is harvesting from windows 10 is encrypted so how can we know what they are taking/seeing when I put my nekid pics in my hard drive?
LMAO. Are you saying that you use windows to encrypt, or it is encrypted, because either way, they can see it. As for how do we know what they see, we don't, but when you have Microsoft saying- we will contact authorities for Illegal data, one must assume it's more than where you visit with a browser, Correct !
she's just eating ice cream Why isn't Google a worse offender of privacy, it searches through your email to sell you to advertisers. I mean if we are going to get on a spin about privacy then why leave out all the other intruders too? On a personal note: I have removed 10 from my test box, never had it on my personal pc
AHHHHHH ice cream, LOL Because, how can you use google without a OS. It all comes back to if everything wasn't based for windows and if every program out and games were made for a OS called Screens, have you any clue how many people would be using Screens or Linux, same scenario. Easy not to use sites like google, but not to use windows when it has the most program based compatibility. To me this is the reason why we can focus more on windows.
Linux alienates itself. Whether by design or simply by all proponents suffering aspergers, Linux will never see much mainstream appeal. For example, there are at least 3 different versions of Mint, absolutely none of them give useful info to a lay user about what the differences are. Hell, I don't even know and I cut my unix teeth on Irix.
No no no. Does M$ not encrypt the data they are sending out from your pc to their servers or can you see what the data is that M$ is harvesting from your pc? As far as I can tell, peeps can tell something is going out the M$ but exactly what some things are, I have not heard. You view a pic on your windows 10 box... Your pc connects to the M$ servers and something starts uploading, What is it uploading exactly?
You can install a root certificate on your computer and pass everything via localhost and then you can see it before it goes into the interwebs.
Lets see you do it, then let us know what the HWID number is that's sent to windows server for activation. You can avoid connecting any browser so there's limited traffic. So how many minutes will this take you ? You'll be a hero, now we'll know how to spoof activation.
