Sorry for the delay. The problem appeared only on CU_253 btw, everything was fine on CU_195.
As far as i can see, the progress is correct, it enabled dotnetfx3 and reinstalled both, the CU and the CU for dotnet afterwards. Maybe it's something language related (installed fod during windows install/oobe stage or something like it), on my installs all was uptodate when i installed the 17763.253 install (nl-NL and en-US) iso, created by W10UI_5.8. I only would not integrate the DU_DISM, it's superseded by the CU it got released with, a few months ago, maybe that's causing all?
Yeah, it might be the reason, I'll try to make another ISO with 4 updates only (same as you) and check it. Thank you for helping me.
@Enthousiast @abbodi1406 just want to inform you guys that my problem with re-offering the latest CU is solved. Everything was fine with those 4 official updates. So the problem was probably due to DU or Microcode updates. Thanks for your help once again.
I had one PC on version 1803 (OS Build 17134.320) and updated it today to latest build (17134.523) using W10UI 5.8 with SSU (KB4477137), Flash Security (KB4480979) and CU (KB4480966). After installed if i check for updates or use Windows Update Manager i can see that i have pending updates from previous dates. Is this normal?
I did not save the log, but everything worked as intended, no errors, etc. I just clicked (5) to make it (5. Cleanup System Image: YES 6. Reset Image Base: NO) and after (0) to start the process. And btw, shouldn't Clean System Image execute the "dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup" command after install? Or is this option only applicable for offline images? I still have the leftovers from the installation.
Nothing seems broken but on 3 different systems KB4480116 installed twice. The 2nd install seems very strange. No reboot is required and whatever it did happened quickly. No need for any kind of support, just reporting an odd observation.
Hmm KB4476976 started downloading. Wonder what that's about. EDIT: Hmm must be some release preview update, takes longer than if it was that Intel Meltdown or AMD Spectre CPU update with support for older hardware coming down. EDIT: 17763.288 Yep must be it.
I switched over to the release preview ring when Redstone 5 came out and the initial problems started appearing thinking that since the build already had a number of issues even if the updates have some known problems it will resolve more than it could break, looks like I missed switching back to the regular channel when the majority of these were resolved around December I think that cumulative was first with mostly the standard security fixes at least from the reported notes on Microsoft's website on what these updates contain in terms of fixes. Was really surprised to see a new update so soon after the monthly cumulative release just two days ago, also expected most of the focus to be on 19H1 now though I suppose Microsoft would be using multiple teams for maintenance both for upcoming builds and the current Windows 10 build and then earlier but still actively supported builds and branches for these. I'm pretty bad at explaining though well it downloaded and installed just fine so hopefully Microsoft will provide some info later on for what the update resolved. (EDIT: And so soon after .253 and the previous cumulative.) Noticed the Asus audio card started clicking a few times on reboot (Powering on and off I think.) so since it goes as a USB device I wonder if they changed something with that in this update though it could be something else entirely but then again it is a WIP update for what will likely be a end of the month cumulative at the earliest or for the February monthly rollup. Though that's not important other than a small note about discrepancy, I was being dumb and forgot to re-check the insider settings after that initial slew of updates and fixes had been released and going back to the regular release branch. EDIT: Though I suppose it does make sense, January cumulative finalizes and spends some time in testing and then gets released and focus is on February and since the release preview channel exists it's good it's being utilized for advanced testing of upcoming updates and apps.
It was expected. The Tuesday update was security updates, while this one probably has a long list of fixes that will get deployed next week. It's the pattern they have been following if you look at the update history.
Patch tuesday CU = feature updates + security The other CU (3rd or 4th week of the month) normally is security only. This current one is Release Preview, not public.
3rd/4th week is feature updates, that will also be included in the 2nd week the following month. I was saying that this RP update will likely evolve into the 3rd/4th week patch that gets rolled out.
I strongly believe the patch tuesday update is the full CU (always publicly on WU), the second CU normally is for IT admins who only want to have security updates (catalog only).
