Is not a CBS update (it's for updating ISO:\Sources) by extracting the cab and put the extracted files in the sources folder. All is explained here: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-10-hotfix-repository.57050/page-406#post-1526578
I understand the DU as a quick and dirty fix to reduce the chances for a broken installation or update or upgrade. Once that specific installation has gone beyond the breaking point, there is no more reason for the DU. The DU patches should not be in an image.
To be clear, can you integrate updates into the MVS 18362.30 extracted ISO with W10UI 6.5 or is it better to use UUP 18362.1?
Why do you advise that I'm using the .30 iso and no problems so but maybe because I use NTlite for that I believe MSMG toolkit does not support higher integration than 18362.1
It doesn't matter what tool you use, it's always better to use a clean base wim, like msft provided for all windows 10 releases up till 1903, on 1809 they released an updated refresh iso and called it the re-release of 1809. On 1903 they left 18362.1 to the UUP system and released a refresh iso as base iso. It's not about problems, it's about the servicing schemes used thru the years, by msft and homebrewers, to not have traces of other updates in a newly updated iso. With 1903 a lot has changed but when people ask what's better, most will advice to start with a fresh clean base wim.
I can understand your point of view but in my case I prefer to use the refresh iso direct from MS prefereble in this situation the .30 version but everybody may choose his own way I guess there are many roads to Rome
There was a version of W10UI released that had a workaround so you could use the 18362.30 ISO and I'm pretty sure the latest versions of W10UI work as well, but still, is pretty much common knowledge the 18362.1 ISO and the version .1 of any ISO is pretty much the way to go when integrating updates. I only asked knowing this as I wasn't sure if there are issues with W10UI 6.5 and the 18362.30 ISO, and after thinking about it made a W10UI ISO with the 18362.1 UUP version knowing it's the best/preferred way. Some DO like using the MVS 18362.30 ISO as it's the official release ISO, but there may be problems such as updates reinstall on a clean install of an ISO with the latest updates integrated into it, and my PC OCD suffers when stuff like that happens.
Talk about coincidence, my latest clean Windows install is the 18362.30 ISO with the updates integrated into it with W10UI, I just ran Windows Update, I have it set only to check when I actually run it, and KB4497935 which WAS integrated (I checked my updates folder for W10UI) just reinstalled, so that answers my own question.
It's normal on UUP>ISO converted iso's, because the boot.wim is made of the winre.wim, provided by UUP, The black background is fixed when you use the latest UUP>ISO conversion script, v27. Or UUP Dump Website.
