Yes they were the updates I applied to original iso then used Optimize-Offline to tweak. Possibly could be SMB Direct that I disabled
I disable SMB with it and CU never reinstalled. I think it's something you're doing different, do you change the default language on Windows setup or anything, I had some updates install when I did that. I disable everything in my link I posted but Windows Store and Calculator in the first picture, and everything else is the same, disabled etc. CU doesn't reinstall. I even enable the Linux subsystem with Optimize Offline. You use W10UI to integrate the updates, right? And did you use the LTSC 2019 17763.1 ISO to integrate the updates?
Yes, use W10UI and I'm using the International English iso (17763.1) . I'm not changing the default language. Using same settings for Optimize-Offline as you are. I guess it's just one of those things, doesn't worry me too much Edit: do you set Reset Image Base to yes in W10UI?
No, I don't. Edit: My W10UI .ini. Code: [W10UI-Configuration] target =D:\2 repo =D:\3 dismroot =dism.exe net35 =1 net35source = cleanup =1 resetbase =0 winre =1 _cabdir =D:\W10UItemp mountdir =D:\W10UImount winremount =D:\W10UImountre iso =1 isodir = delete_source =0 autostart =0
Thanks. The only other thing it could be I use W10UI to apply updates then Optimize-Offline. Maybe I should do Optimize-Offline then W10UI?
Ben (DrEmpiricism) from his Optimize-Offline readme Optimize-Offline best practices Only OEM images should be used for optimization and not images that have already been modified by other scripts and/or programs. <-- *** images that have already had packages removed If maintaining fully updated OEM images, it's best to integrate offline updates into the image and then run Optimize-Offline. It is not recommended to optimize an image and then integrate offline updates.
seems you missed this important part ---> it's best to integrate offline updates into the image and then run Optimize-Offline.
You have to be doing something like changing the Windows language settings during the Windows install or adding a feature after installing Windows that's triggering the reinstall of the CU. I integrated the latest updates into the LTSC 2019 17763.1 ISO with W10UI 6.6, used Optimize Offline, the below settings, and no updates or CU's install or reinstall except my Intel driver updates. Check the LTSC 2019 thread. Stuff about Optimize Offline is off topic for this thread, but I have what you need to know in the LTSC 2019 thread.
There is No Right Way or Wrong Way. you need to do the research, the minute you decide to mess with Windows, your success or faiure is down to hardware compatibility (My Opinion) Ben (DrEmpiricism, @GodHand, here on MDL) works in an enviorment, and his script is based on his experiences (it is not a (one) solution that fits all scenario) I use his script (as a starting point, because I understand the logic), but actually go through it meticuously, ammending it, and adding stuff (based on my limited experience) to suit my own OS and my needs..... .. You only learn, from your own failures.......
