I'm not a big fan of anything in the store and up to now, never needed anything from it. To me their install methods seem a bit convoluted. I'm probably talking nonsense since I haven't really looked into tracing store installs. I'll stick to the Win32 apps as long as I can. After reading my post again, I guess this reply is a bit OT. Sorry about that. I have an L460 and use W7 PowerManager 6.68.15 for Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit, 64-bit. It allows you to set the charging levels and still has the nice batttery indicator in the taskbar. The problem is, the setup won't run on W10 because it's blocked and compatibility mode alone doesn't get around it. In order to get this to work, you need to install the Application Compatibility Toolkit and run the Compatibility Administrator. From the start menu, run the Compatibility Administrator, either the 32-bit or the 64-bit version depending on your application. In the left-hand pane under System Database (32/64-bit) -> Applications, look for the corresponding application (Lenovo Power Manager) and select it. In the large pane on the right-hand side there should be an entry AppHelp - HARDBLOCK. Right-click the exe-file with the hard block and select Disable entry. Now you should be good to go. This is what ended up in my registry for the setup.exe and I use that when I do a clean install. If you use it, you need to make some path adjustments. Also, I only use the app for the battery indicator and setting the charging levels. For PowerPlans, I update via those from W10. Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 ; L460 Settings W10 ; Generated by Total Uninstall ; Power Manager will only install if W7 Compatability Mode enabled [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers] "x:\\Drivers\\L460\\PwrMGR_n1au415w\\Setup.exe"="~ WIN7RTM" ; Alllow PwrMgr Setup to run on W10 (See x:\drivers\l460\$notes.txt) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags] "{c2c0a0a8-ec3a-4f72-b657-5c39de76c771}"=dword:00000077
Can anybody guide me how to install (auto[windows update] or manual) October 12, 2021—KB5006672 (OS Build 17763.2237)? 5 times my 64 bit system failed to update it. Manually I downloaded the update package but windows failed to install it. Is there any way to easily install it? Thanks, sid_16.
OK. And is there a way to provide uncompressed folder with update.mum as update? Or a ZIP (renamed to something?)
- Extract repacked LCU to C:\tmpdir (with its own folder, same as esd file name) - Rename the original baseless cab to have the repacked esd file name, and place it with other updates - Place W10UI.cmd with updates files - Mount install.wim to C:\mntdir - Run in admin command prompt: Code: call W10UI.cmd 1 "C:\mntdir" "C:\tmpdir" "ISODIR\sources" where ISODIR is the path to extracted iso this only needed to add the setup dynamic update if you don't want it, run instead: Code: call W10UI.cmd 1 "C:\mntdir" "C:\tmpdir" - Unmount/commit install.wim - Do the same for boot.wim
Unfortunately in some cases it is not possible to avoid uwp apps. Starting with version 496.13 of the nvidia drivers only DCH drivers will be available and with that only uwp control panel will be available, sadly
Oh no. I had noticed there was no standard 496.13 driver and thought it was maybe a temporary thing. Why link the nvidia control panel with the microsoft store? This makes no sense. There's no reason for it. I guess nvidia with record-breaking profits can't afford the bandwidth for control panel downloads. This is just stupid for no reason.
You're preaching to the choir. I wanted an RX 6800. Only problem was I couldn't find one when I was looking for a card this January, so I got a 3060 ti for msrp instead. It is what it is. It's a great card so I can't complain too much. I can complain about nvidia DCH drivers though, and trust me when I say I will at every available opportunity.
Who does that though? I've never seen anything bundled with an nvidia driver before, but I always downloaded the standard driver directly from nvidia's site.
I have a AMD RX-580 Card & know what you mean. Good thing is AMD is releasing Win 11 AMD Drivers for the RX-580. If I find a newer Card, I won't pay the price that is being asked. Prices are out of control !!!
Sorry about that, the image taken was from Win7. The one below is from W10. I guess you are talking about The /\ symbol vs the one from W7.
