i did that, but no luck so far, the garbage is still around.
i would suggest that members do a search for gwx on their c-drive
to see if they are w10-infected.

i have walked around in some suspect directories, renaming them by removing the first letter..
the trouble is, that when you reach essential places, you get acces denied.. no way of taking it out. grey field..

my respects for your efforts to clear this up, nucleus, i thought i should mention that.
and my pc still booted after i did some weeding, btw..

Your welcome. I am working with her right now to try and get rid of all this junk. I sent her a batch file and instructions to delete these updates but now I see you have more that should be deleted. I only have 13.
Right now she is scared to shut down her computer because Win10 wants to install again.

So is it safe to reinstall kb/3080351 and then use the Group Policy to block upgrades to Windows 10 through Windows Update. Or should I just add the two reg entries above :g:

You can have her install CCleaner and from send a shortcut to her desktop from her 'Program Files' folder 'CCLeaner64.exe in x64, or from Program Files (x86) folder CCleaner.exe, whatever applies to her system.
    Then in the shortcut properties set the target to this;
    "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe" ' /AUTO /SHUTDOWN
    or for x86; "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" ' /AUTO /SHUTDOWN
Apply and close...Pin shortcut to taskbar and she can use this for shutdown...will single click run CCleaner and shutdown her PC, bypassing any loaded/pending Windows updates.
Or set to Disable WU completely as Nucleus stated...
    :)

@Admin - There is only "Like this post" and no "Thanks for this post" in this "Serious Discussion" section of the forum? :g:

    :good3:

Thanks for this. I'll follow your steps for friends/family and get more drastic if they begin reporting any problems. Off hand I can't recall if their machines are set to "Notify but let me choose" or "Disabled", but in some cases "Notify but let me choose" may as well be "Install anything and everything" cos they must just click Yes without reading anyway! But thanks for the procedure you have outlined. Forewarned is fore armed as they say. :)

    I have enabled thanks here.
The settings to have likes only must have been copied when we created the serious discussion section out of chit chat threads.

    Thanks, Nucleus :)
