This seems to be a wise move. I think i will do that in the future as well. Also thanks to frwil for the info.
The first 5 numbers have nothing to do with language files . OEMID = a identity of the serial you used.
Well it was in Vista this way (55041 for English and 89580 for Russian, for example), but in Win 7 it looks like indeed 00426 all the time for Ultimate edition.
Emm, AFAIK the Lenovo Key got blacklisted so that Windows Update won´t work, but what's about the Dell and Acer Keys? Maybe I am misunderstanding something...sorry.
I thought it was just a few days after it was leaked... Does that mean that if I have my Bios modded with HP cert and Windows activated with cert+slp my copy is genuine and I can use Windows Update?
Yes of course. A biosmod is safe, you may use Windows update. M$ talked about to blacklist the Lenovo key, but they didn't. OEM_SLP keys are released to the public and used there. You cannot blacklist them, without blocking legit activations. SLIC and certificate must match (same OEM), the serial must match to the W7 version (Ultimate, etc.)
That are good news . I've been "away" for a time, thinking that the Lenovo Key was blacklisted. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't, as I'm using it on my installation.
Yes, and if the Lenovo key was released too early to the public and hence they can blacklist them (no legit activations out there), you simply can change the serial to another OEM_SLP.
thanks! now i get how we also got asus 2.1 slic i guess someone got asus laptop with win7 preinstalled "bit in advance".
