Fake or not. Didnt m$ already say they where working on 8.1? I mean if its true its true and logic tells me that chances are that a random (non-essential) build could be floating around. People would complain about the color, if MS sent them a top of the line machine with ALL the latest software fully licensed and installed, including printer, router, triple monitors, and free software and machine updates every year for the rest of their lives.
