If you use DLNA PlayTo, you might know that Microsoft only allows special certified receiver devices to work with Metro apps. To fix that (credit DigitalMediaphile.com) Code: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PlayTo] "ShowNonCertifiedDevices"=dword:00000001
Hmmm, but EnableLUA=1 doesn't seem as UAC disabled. Or is it somewhat negated with those other values?
It's stated in the quote you quoted lol. If you try to run metro apps while loggin into the built-in Administrator account, metro apps can not be launched, setting the FilterAdministratorToken to 1 will "filter" the admin token (obviously) so metro apps work instead of throwing a error.
That comment is wrong IMHO as it "solves" only metro support for build-in Administrator account (but certainly NOT WITH "UAC Disabled" (EnableLUA=0) setting). Just the opposite, it cripples Administrator account (by setting UAC on) and hiding adm. token and (maybe) negating (partially) "UAC on" by those three last lines... I am almost sure, that such account will prompt in certain cases with UAC bogus (maybe not so much often but still)... BTW: You can do that for ANY account, but certainly NOT without ANY UAC prompts. I hoped for nicer thing: to get rid of stupid UAC and still be able to run metro apps... ...but this is only cosmetic polishing of Admin account (by making it regular account)
yes it should have been like this, it was my mistake - ; Enable Metro Apps to Work on In-Built Administrator Account with UAC Prompt Disabled (Requires Reboot) and not UAC Disabled
Could someone post an registry tweak to add lock to the win+x menu (where it says shutdown logoff ect.) please? Everthings there except lock. The only way to lock is from start screen thanks
My comment isn't wrong, i clearly did not state any relation to UAC in my comment.. your own quote of the regtweak did. Metro Apps use UAC for sandboxing, so it's impossible to disable UAC yet use Metro, it's technically not built to allow that. They would need to redesign how UAC works in Windows to allow this behaviour but i don't see them ever doing that.
Is there any chance to permanently disable naggy statement related with saving files on the root C drive (confirm?)? I obviously disabled UAC & used GPO rules but nothing seems to work like in Win 7.
anyone know how to "group" "this pc" drive icons like win8 or win7 ? i want the "optical drives" back together in one row h**p://abload.de/img/image22olax.jpg
First thing I need to do once installed Windows 8.1 is changing drive letters in Disk Manager. Is there a way to do it automatically with a reg file?
