I think Win 7 was a big success, is actually. Maybe it didn't exactly wow me, but I find it very polished.
Actually, Paul and Zukona were both right. We often forget that the term RTM means Released to Manufacturing, a term used to describe that a piece of software is passed on to be written on discs for wide distribution, amongst other things. Over time, however, we've skewed the term to mean 'when the software is done' or 'gold', which isn't necessarily the same date. In Windows 7 SP1's case, the software was completed far in advance -- this is what Zukona reported as "RTM". But RTM did not occur until much later. Paul's comment about SP1 not being RTM was correct -- from the traditional sense of the term. Internally, it was complete, but it wasn't ready for distribution outside to normal users. But Zukona was definitely spot on about the SP1 going gold. Confusing, eh? Regarding Windows 8, I'm not sure how you think these screenshots are being made without an installation of Windows 8.
I do have to disagree with you here. Support for 256 Processer Cores (yes in the server versions but still that change happened then) App locker, Direct connect, UI changes (while they may seem small and most of us now take them for granted.) made older Microsoft OSs feel very clunky and not near as user friendly. The ability to have built in Virtual XP and apps. Ect… the list goes on and on. While maybe it was not as game changing as windows 95 or 98 was back in the day I still like where they are going. Way more than say the Linux community or Apple.
Thank you for the screenshots. btw is it safe that everybody can see your whole name on the screen shots (personal folder)? (Microsoft, etc. because I doubt it's allowed to share those shots)..?
It seems odd for a visitor of his supersite, but it isn't. All I want is to remember that m$ originally doesn't want that such infos are made public and the release of w8 is meant for OEM partners only. There are always two sides of the same coin. To gain attention at any cost versus respect to others. Some sites are known to care about the first only.
Hey, Vlad i found the last Windows 8 Bug (on your Sreenshot). Erich Honecker Please fix it ... or you go to Santiago de Chile to Exil. h t t p : / / pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erich_Honecker ...then we can now go to BETA 1 Status *lol*
Actually it's WSVGA 1024x600, one line and col of pixels are cropped. There is a power indicator with fully charged battery in the notification area, so it's a laptop. vmware isn't working, was already said by Vlad on winreview before it's closure.
arseny92 Thanks. Yes, I know about Zip, but the question has been set. Yes, it Netbook. I already wrote that I prefer without a condom (not in VMLite).
