..........I do not know,i test here but dont worked for search updates in 8.1 he was in an endless loop, spent hours and i gave up, I think it is not prepared to windows 8.1.......until the wu managed to find updates first....lol..........><
Please add option to look up the updates. Often I need to check what they do online. Maybe also auto-update feature? Something like this: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/number ie 3080149
How? If you cannot even copy the name of the update out of the tool? Yes the page does exist. support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3080149 Windows Update client has a thing called "view details".
Yes, it does exist. But look the last you one wrote and the first one: support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/number ie 3080149 support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3080149 See? there's a difference...
@jose - I don't use this tool but if I'm understanding correctly, you want to link to the support page for a relevant update. Clicking on the update and then clicking on "Update Support URL" in the upper right corner doesn't work?
.......The tool is good, but could save the updates to a directory in cab or MSU....just an idea that could take advantage of...
Does WindowsUpdate allows you to "save" update separately? the tool is an advanced front end for WU, it's not a downloader
I use this tool exclusively for all my Windows Updates in Windows 7, 8.1, and 10. Windows 10 Home is the only place that I still have some problems. Since Microsoft has made Windows 10 Home ignore policies concerning Windows Update it is difficult if not impossible to stop Automatic Updates in Windows 10 Home. WUMT does its part when I use the Automatic Updates dropdown arrow to change update policies to Disabled, Notify etc. and it even makes the appropriates changes to the registry, which Windows 10 Home ignores. Therefore anytime the Windows Update service is running even it was started for WUMT then Windows Update can sneak in and install updates automatically. Sometimes updates are installed twice once from WUMT manually and once from Windows Update automatically. This behavior is very frustrating. Having said all that WUMT is still a very nice tool.
On Home, you can have full control with WUMT if you set your wireless connection to metered and:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching] "SearchOrderConfig"=dword:00000000 It would be a great addition for this software to also have a drop down menu to control this setting.
That is a great suggestion, however I have had some updates slip through with Metered connection set to On. Most of the time I get the Download key when there are updates available, but not always. Furthermore not everyone is using WIFI and this is not an option when using Ethernet.
