A great little tool that works great especially on 7 / 8.1 as I don't have issues with 10's updates :)

It has nothing to do with WUMT, but let's see if we can help.

    1. You can delete prefetch data, empty C:\Windows\Prefetch

    2. You can delete Windows Update files, empty C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

    3. Rebuild size of the system swap.

Open elevated command line and paste this in: wmic pagefileset where name="C:\\pagefile.sys" set InitialSize=1024,MaximumSize=1024
    -- and do "enter"
    Restart your PC.

Maybe this helps you, see you

Tried all steps but still getting same error
Also mention clearly the last step command, it is not accessible.

Stop the service wuauserv, delete C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, and restart wuauserv (C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution will be recreated automatically).

Then the old good solution that solves everything would be format C:\ :)

Did you install from original ISO? Or some unattended and/or tweaked Windows?
