Could Some Please Tell Me What This Does And How Long Will Last Before Microsoft Patches Is Like The Boot Loader

Is This Better Than The Boot Loader ??

WOW is a "softmod" patcher. It runs everytime you boot your PC and will try to patch a bad SLIC table or introduce a new one. Once its done, there are no traces of it unlike bios emulation. WOW tries to do what a hardmod does. No one can say how long it will last or when MS will go after it.

By no means, this is a perfect solution, but might be only choice for some. Best way is to buy vista if you use it then no worries.

Hey guys, do you know what command i can set in grub to get it to ignore certain partitions in the mbr partition table when search for the root partition?

I think it's currently having problems when it tries to parse the HFS partition.

    Thanks

Sorry, I'm confused - why do I need a SLIC in real bios or VM bios, when I want to use WoW5 softmod to do it for me? I can't patch my BIOS (it's a DELL), so I wanted to use this softmod instead.

    Sorry to confuse you.
    Yes, that's what I meant.:)
    You need a SLIC.
Running WS2008 at VM---> wow needs to patch VM bios--->alternative way--->using a modified VM bios.
Running WS2008 at your Dell----> wow needs to patch Dell bios---->alternative-->other softmod, no hardmod possible.

One way could activate the other could not. No matter of WS2008.... that's all;)
What about the report? rw everything or Acpiscope?

Will WoW5 or similar program allow setting the System Manufacturer field for SLP 1.0? If I recall correctly, Vistaloader does not alter System Manufacturer. Reason - I have a machine that DMICFG can't modify. TIA.

the mbr version worked great even on Hyper-V Virtual Machines. VistaLDR would not even do that on my VMs.

    New idea:
Try this to have a look at HD0, partition 0 only. Exchange it with your partition you want to search only.(hd0,0)

    menu.lst

    default 0
    hiddenmenu
    map --mem (hd0,0)/wow5/WOWfloppy_5.11_auto_HP.IMG (fd0)
    map --hook
    chainloader (fd0)+1
    rootnoverify (fd0)

    and
    menu.lst at img (MBR version)

    default 0
    hiddenmenu
    map (fd0) (fd0)
    map --unhook
    root (hd0,0)
    chainloader /bootmgr

    menu.lst at img (NOMBR version<5.11)

    default 0
    hiddenmenu
    map (fd0) (fd0)
    map --unhook
    root (hd0,0)
    chainloader /bootmgrv

Try this to have a look at HD0, partition 0 only. Exchange it with your partition you want to search only.(hd0,0)

Its working all right on HP CQ 550. I tried numerous activators before and wow5 is the only one which is working... Thank you so much guys!

System: Vista Ultimate SP1 (only one OS)

Used MBR version of WOW (installed on root (c:\)) and clicked on install.. Rebooted and voila... Windows is activated, without any need to enter new serial number or something like that.

    :) Thanks again guys.
