What did you use besides the CD?

    Hi all,

This is exciting stuff, but I've got some problems with installing WOW6.

I've tried to use the install.cmd to edit bootmgr, but I always get this error message when I do so:

"Updated NTFS filesystem bootcode. The update may be unreliable since the volume could not be locked during the update: Access is denied."

I know for sure that I have elevated the access permissions (I can even move and delete the file), and I have unchecked the read-only portion.

Any ideas on why this is so?

    Newbie Question

    Hi Yen,

    Thank you for your response.

Yes. I can confirm that WoW Visible 5.2.3 & BootFloppy is working for me. In fact, I tested a bit further and found that both WS08 x32 & x64 under VM6.5 work fine with WoW Visible 5.2.3.

I also tried WS08 x32 & x64 under Hyper-V but they both failed. As the BootFloppy is not compatible with .vfd I have to use WS08 DVD to restore the system. Any idea about this?

No. I have not tried that. Could you give me some guidelines for that?

    Thanks in advance.

PS. Will the new WoW6.0 solve my problem? Can you also create a .vfd boot floppy?

Hi. I think that's normal. I always get that error but it still works. Just see if you see SLIC.

Did you try WOW on the Acer ? If it don't work we need ACPI bios report using ACPIScope program.

    Thanks for your reply.
Do you mean that because I have an Intel motherboard, I can't use the HP certificate and key to install Wow? If yes, where can I find an Intel certificate and key?

I have reinstalled my Vista without the vistaloader and now I don't see a SLIC row anymore in the ACPI (image in attachment). So I suppose the vistaloader added that SLIC row but it didn't activate my Vista...

I however notice that my OEM ID is "Intel".

I also tried the Wow5-tool on my previous Vista installation (the one where I installed the vistaloader and where you notice a SLIC row in the image I attached in my previous message). But then I'm receiving an error after the last reboot: "Your program caused a divide overflow error. If the problem persists, contact your program vendor. The following file is missing or corrupt: Command.com. Type in the command of the Command Interpretor (e.g. c:\windows\command.com)". I'm not able to boot anymore when I installed the Wow5-tool.

Did I do something wrong or was this because I tried Wow5 on a Vista installation where I first tried a vistaloader?

I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit. I disabled UAC, I installed WoW6, I ran Command Prompt as Administrator and activated Vista exactly as described on page 1.

I rebooted my computer but now I can't boot anymore? My computer is in a reboot loop. I can't even see an error message while booting. He just starts over and over again. :(

What I noticed is that I didn't saw a SLIC row added after installing WoW6. I noticed this in Everest (Acpiscope doesn't work on my 64bit Vista). When using a Vistaloader, it added a SLIC row but it didn't get my Vista activated...

This is maybe the 10th time that I'm reinstalling my Vista on that computer... What am I doing wrong??? I don't have those activation problems with my "older" computers...

FYI: I'm using RAID1, Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1, an Intel i7 920 CPU and an Intel DX58SO motherboard.

    Hi Yen,

    Thanks for your quick reply.
But unfortunately I already reinstalled Vista...

I'm looking forward to seeing a solution or explanation.

    Thanks,
    Ralph

OK, to try the boot CD first is always the better solution. (No installation needed). If it works, we can think about.....

Btw: I'm just building a core I7 PC as well. But with Asus P6-T mobo (AMI bios)
