Even if you use Firefox, Chrome or any other browser, Windows will offer you the update because Microsoft wants to replace Internet Explorer with Edge, and Internet Explorer in the default browser on the system, whether or not you want to use it. I always use Chrome and WU has also offered me the same update (which I have declined).
Note that installing this update (Microsoft Edge) will not remove Internet Explorer; maybe later with another update.
IE will never be removed (or suppressed) the user is free to disable the UI access from optional features
you guys are totally stupid.how many times we said that after a clean install you just have run the simplix pack and then connect to the net and run the bypass tool
I don't think users are "totally stupid" (nasty thing to say, BTW). Many users distrust Simplix mainly due to the fact that it's not an official source for Windows 7 update mgmt, just a project source from, I believe, Russia. You may not have a problem with Simplix but many users do due mainly to its SOURCE.
The STABLE is now available and being offered. I don't think MicroSloth is managing the baseline of this Win7 version of Chromium Edge just yet... it's just trying to get it out there. The whole thing seems a bit dumb to me. Win7 has been completely dropped for support purposes and here's MicroSloth pushing a "newer" "Safer" browser than IE. I can't think of anyone who's still using IE under any OS other than maybe XP and even there exists many modern browsers for choice. With Win7, most users moved away from IE eons ago. I think with this Chromium-based EDGE, they're just trying to pick up additional telemetry on Win7 that never existed under IE. Personally I wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft pole. Apologies to the thread members for this off-topic quickie... no more to come
Same for me, v5 + .Net patch, working fine. I am not following this thread on a daily basis, so I probably missed 100 posts ;-). Nevertheless, I understand that this combo is stable and up to date, and that v6 or v7 may cause problems in some configurations. Unless told otherwise, I don't change what's working fine until at least v8 ;-).
I have successfully applied v7 and updated the system. Is it safe to turn on automatic updates from now on?
- Notice: Regarding .NET 4 ESU Bupass option in BypassESU-v7 it has incompatibility issue and may cause msiexec.exe to crash in that case, it's recommended to remove it, and use the manual workaround listed below to install NDP4 updates
On running dotNetFx4_ESU_Installer.cmd as administrator, I received this message " update files for NDP4.8 not detected". I have installed .NET Frasmework 4.8 already. What are the update files it is asking?
